Generic joke about going bonkers goes here.

Brace yourselves, because here comes the Donkey Konga Australian song list! Thirty-one tracks from original artists such as...oh, wait, they're not from the original artists, are they? Oh well, here they are anyway:

I wonder if NAL will advertise this at all?

I'm listening to Tub Thumping right now :'D I'm actually pretty excited over the song list, upon closer inspection. More Nintendo originals would have been nice, but this will suffice.

    IT HAS TITO PUENTE!

    RABicleOctober 14, 2004

Some Australian bands would've been nice. I would rather be clapping to Frenzal Rhomb or something on there.

DrZoidbergJuan Schwartz, Staff WriterOctober 14, 2004

    I'll bet if they had the chance, Guy Sebastian would have been on it ;__;

Nono, for that part the girl is saying Danny Boy, as in "Oh Danny Boy, the pipes the pipes are calling...". But I'm talking about before that. Just before the guy says "He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink, he drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink...". Before that, the girl is harmoniously chanting "Pissing the night away.... Pissing the night away....".

    HONEST.

    See?

DrZoidbergJuan Schwartz, Staff WriterOctober 14, 2004

so they censored HELL out of the DK rap, but not pissing the night away from Tubthumping? awesome! :'D

    Ms.PikminOctober 14, 2004

"What the hell is Tubthumping doing on there, anyway? Isn't that the song with that woman peacefully chanting "P**sing the night away..." in the background? "

Well, aren't all Aussies drunken heathens?

    RABicleOctober 14, 2004

    *straightens up record*
    Chumbawumba are a UK band.

Tubthumping is one of the best songs on this soundtrack, next to the Impression that I get.

Aussies seem to have a massive attachment to one-hit wonders like Tubthumping face-icon-small-tongue.gif
And this list needs "Prisoner of Society" or a similar song from The Living End. But "The Impression That I Get" will have to do I guess face-icon-small-happy.gif

I had convienently forgotten that Tubthumping exists. I'm SO glad to be reminded of it and have it stuck in my head too. While were discussing sh!tty 90s one hit wonders lets all start doing the Macarena and bust out that sunscreen "song".

I was unaware that SSBM censored the DK Rap. Yet SSBM is rated T and DK64 is rated E.

    KDR_11kOctober 14, 2004

Censored? What's in there to censor?

    Bartman3010October 14, 2004

When they get to Chunky's bit, the N64 calls him one HELL of a guy. Then the GCN bit for SSBM calls him one heck of a guy. Now Konga calls Chunky nothing because they cut his part out.

    Koopa TroopaOctober 14, 2004

Wow, Mozart and Brahms in Donkey Konga? Did the US version have any classical stuff?

    Bill AurionOctober 14, 2004

Yeah, the Hungarian Dance and Turkish March...

    NinGurl69 *hugglesOctober 14, 2004

"His coconut GUN can fire in BURSTS. If he shoots your it's gonna HURT!"

    Ian SaneOctober 14, 2004

"If you think it SUCKS to hear this Donkey Kong RAP. This whole GAME is collecting useless CRAP!"

This verse was removed due to cartridge storage limitations.

    RABicleOctober 14, 2004

Well it's down there with Nelly in the lousy rap song stakes. I wouldn't've included it.

    CaillanOctober 15, 2004

The last 9 songs sound good, but I'm skeptical about the rest (except maybe the Santana song.) Do all music games have generic poppy one-hit wonders as most of their soundtrack? I guess I'm just being a music biggot but they took the one style of music I didn't like and expanded on it. Anyone else in the same boat?

A side question: has anyone who's bought this here had any training in percussion? I'd like to get it, but I play around a bit with hand-drums etc and I don't really want to waste $100 on something too routine and easy for me. Are there any weird rhythms or swing required in harder modes, or is it all on beat/basic syncopation stuff?

    KnowsNothingOctober 15, 2004

Well, going by the in-store kisosk, a debilitated monkey could perfect any song. But I'm not sure about the REAL game.

Being the DK nut that I am, I'd rather see a disc dedicated to the DKC trilogy songs and songs from Diddy Kong Racing. Using the bongos to Diddy Kong Racing's Hot Top Volcano would be awesome - that's got some mad percussion. It's even got hand claps, you could actually use the clapping for what it was intended!! *gasp* DKC 3's Rockface Rumble (which is really drum heavy) or Bad Boss Blues (for when you're facing off against the final iteration of KAOS) would also be quite excellent.

But, the chances of this happening are next to zilch, so it'll be exciting pop anthems forever! Which is a shame - I love my DKC soundtracks.

I might add that Ben's new avatar is awesome.

I love Rockface Rumble! I was humming that today at work for whatever reason. I feel that DKC 3's soundtrack as a whole isn't really on par with the first two but Rockface Rumble is one of the best.

    Termin8AnakinOctober 17, 2004

You know for an aussie game list there's not much aussie music.

I was expecting more 80s Kylie music.
And some stuff from today, at least.
Maan....Jet would be AWESOME to put on Donkey Konga! Their songs have MAD drumming, and some clapping and tamborine stuff!
