There was originally some concern that replacement batteries for the GBA SP would not be readily available or easy to install, but those worries turned out to be unfounded. Nintendo is selling replacement lithium-ion rechargeable batteries through its online store for a mere $15 USD. The only equipment necessary for installation is a small-tip Phillips screwdriver, though you'll want to make sure that you dispose of the old battery properly.
