Puyo Puyo!! is very similar to other Puyo Puyo games; It looks like Puyo Puyo and plays like Puyo Puyo. The main difference in this version, other than the two exclamation marks at the end of the game's title, is that this Puyo Puyo is in 3D.

It takes a real man to Puyo

The Puyo area, in which you place the Puyos, stands out nicely from the background area. The Puyos themselves, however, are not in 3D. It ends up feeling more like a standard Puyo Puyo game than you'd expect.

To be a real 3D Puyo Puyo game I'd want the Puyos to be in 3D and be more blobby or "Puyo" like in their nature. This appears to be a quick 3D conversion of an existing Puyo Puyo game, leaving it open for another version in the near future.

This version of Puyo Puyo does have some 3DS exclusive features, such as using your photos as backgrounds and your pets' faces' as Puyos.
