GB Advance Power Station

You're going to need to keep your GBA all powered up (like Rick Powar-ups), and Mad Catz have a 2 battery cradle solution!

I've been waiting and waiting for the right power solution for my GBA. Batteries are expensive and though the GBA has decent power consumption, I've been burning through a fresh set in a week or so. I usually am not a big fan of rechargables, but I have a set of Nintendo rechargeables on pre-order.

As for the Mad Catz Power Station, the package contains an AC adapter, the cradle, and 2 rechargable battery packs. The packs are basically battery fitted packs that you snap into the the battery compartment on the GBA. One difference from the original lid is that there's 2 metal pieces on the back of the Power Station battery lid. The pack is actually more snug than the original lid on the GBA. Now it doesn't rattle around!

As far as the cradle is concerned, you just slide the GBA in, and the metal connecters match up, and your GBA is getting juiced up! Right in back of the GBA is a place that you can put the second battery to get charged. There's a light on the front of the cradle that turns red while charging and green when both batteries are fully charged. Pretty sweet!

Not only that, but the cradle is a cool way to display your GBA, and charge it up! Stylish, and effective!

I'm not sure how long these batteries actually last (zero documentation included in the package...booo!), but I haven't had one die on me yet. Plus there's always the back up battery if the first one dies, or if you have 2 GBA's in the house...you're all set. For the review, I'm going to test and see how long it takes to kill a battery, as well as see how long a full charge takes too.

So far I think Mad Catz has come up with a pretty cool accessory to keep your GBA all powered and ready to roll.
