Jon Lindemann was privy to a Rogue Leader demo conducted by Nintendo's own Ken Lobb. What did he have to say about LucasArts' future smash hit?
While I was standing in the Rogue Leader suite Ken Lobb came in to show the game off to some other journalists. Aside from showing off the game, he gave those present some interesting details:
- the Raid on Bespin level is the equivalent of 16km of in-game distance
- he commented on the polygon counts for the various ships. The X-Wing is 30,000 polygons and the other ships rang between 29,000 and 34,000 polygons. The Star Destroyer is a whopping 130,000 polygons.
As you all know, Rogue Leader's graphics are nothing short of incredible. The Raid on Bespin level is kind of bland, but the level in which the player attacks a Star Destroyer is unbelievable. The Star Destroyer itself is comprised of thousands of tiny polygons and looks like it's been ripped directly from the movies. The game also has an incredible sense of distance - when you're far away from the Star Destroyer you can really tell just how immense it is just by how long it will take you to get to it. I can't wait to pick up a finished version of this one!
