The Tower of London will see the cast of the Harry Potter movies awarding a shiny trophy to the winner.

EA TO HOST HARRY POTTER™: QUIDDITCH™ WORLD CUP


Cast members from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban™ to present the Quidditch World Cup Trophy at event held December 21st at the Tower of London. Tournament Sponsored by Nintendo GameCube™


Chertsey, UK. – December 11th, 2003 – Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, today announced that one videogame competitor in the magical sport of Quidditch will soon be a grand champion at the Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup Videogame International Tournament Final event due to take place on December 21st at the Tower of London in the United Kingdom.


The Videogame Tournament Final event will feature champion Quidditch videogame players between the ages of 8 and 14 years, representing 12 countries around the world, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Italy, USA, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Holland, and Brazil. Competitors, all who have won qualifying videogame tournaments in their home countries, will don Quidditch robes and compete for the prestigious title of Quidditch World Cup videogame champion of the world.


Players will show off their Quidditch videogame skills and special moves as they compete for the Quidditch World Cup trophy, as well as a variety of EA, Harry Potter, and Nintendo prizes. All matches will take place on the Nintendo GameCube, the official sponsor of the Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup Videogame International Tournament Final event.


Several cast members from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will also be attending the event including (in alphabetical order): Tom Felton (Draco MalfoyTM), Josh Herdman (Gregory GoyleTM), Matthew Lewis (Neville LongbottomTM), Devon Murray (Seamus FinneganTM), James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George WeasleyTM), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny WeasleyTM). Cast members will present the Quidditch World Cup trophy to the grand prize winner and will be available for photo opportunities and interviews.


In the Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup videogame, licensed by Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Harry Potter fans can fully experience the magical power, speed, and competition of Quidditch, the favourite sport of witches and wizards, for the first time. Connectivity between the Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy® Advance also allows players to trade Quidditch Cards and team up together for co-operative gameplay.


Developed by EA's U.K. studios, the team behind the worldwide success of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's StoneTM and Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsTM games, the game is currently available on Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the XboxTM video game system from Microsoft, and PC-CD.
