Old Navy Giving Away New Super Mario Bros. U on Black Friday
« on: November 10, 2012, 01:12:58 AM »

Here's another reason to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/32449

Old Navy will be awarding free copies of New Super Mario Bros. U to customers on November 23 who spend more than $40 on merchandise in their store. The promotion will only be available to a limited number of customers.

When the store opens on Black Friday, wristbands will be handed out to the customers in line on a first-come-first-serve basis. When checking out with the qualifying amount of purchases from Old Navy, the wristbands can be traded for a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U.

In addition, Old Navy will be giving away 1000 Wii U Basic Set consoles to customers who shop on November 23.

Even a free copy of the latest Mario game isn't enough to make me dare venture out into the insanity of Black Friday.

If I was Old Navy I wouldn't give you anything for the close returns.  Essentailly I make it buy NSMBU and get $40 of Free clothes.

Is this any Old Navy?

It's part of their Black Friday ad, so yes.

To prevent something like BNM says, I would make it a policy that clothes bought with this offer can't be returned for anything except store credit.

If this is like past video game offers at Old Navy, expect this to be sold out within 1 hour.

I haven't been in retail in a long time, and I don't normally go out shopping for Black Friday but...

Don't something like 90% of stores not allow returns on sale items anyway? At the very least you'll get store credit back, as TJ said. If anything the people that would go to ON that day and get a free copy of NSMBWU should just scalp it (if the Wii U gets as hot as Wii did when it released).

I'll be picking it up on launch day, but I'll have no problem going early for a copy to sell/trade. Deal is going on in Canada too, so I'm in luck. I'll have to go super early, but spending $40 at Old Navy is hardly a problem. I buy all my t-shirts for future silk screens there.

Old Navy lives at the mall(s) where I live. Free SMBWU on Black Friday = still not worth it.

Even if it was for a copy to sell later, it still isn't worth the time an effort put into dealing with the Black Friday madness.

NSMBU is overpriced at $60 but I'll definitely buy it for $40 w/ $4 of free fabric thrown in.

Too bad scalpers are going to ruining it for the people who actually want the game to play. Hopefully my sister who's crazy enough to go to the mail when it opens at 3-4am, can manage to get one of these.

My Dad hates getting dragged everywhere by my Mom and I for Black Friday. So he volunteered to wait in line for us at Old Navy so we can be running down deals elsewhere and he can not be put into a stressful situation. I guess he picks sitting in one place in the cold for two hours over my family's normal Black Friday battle plan.

I don't think there's a store near me so I can't take advantage of this deal.

I think my wife and I may make a drive over to our nearest Old Navy on Thursday to see what kind of fervor we can expect.

My son's needing some new clothes.  I want a copy of Mario U.  Win-Win.

Not a bad deal at all if you're buying clothes anyway, but is $20 in your pocket worth the gas in your car, sitting in traffic and dealing with Black Friday parking/mall/insanity?

I hope that sweaty dirty gamers don't rape this promotion just to save themselves $20 and that it actually goes to those poor misguided moms who have sold their dignity and part of their soul to get their kids some clothes for Christmas on Black Friday and maybe the incentive of receiving the free game will inspire them to just buy their kid the new console and make it a magical christmas for them rather than one doomed to just unwrapping cargo shorts and a few pair of socks..
