As you pointed out, though, Advent Children is a video, not a game- it's kind of funny how a lot of PSP supporters tout Advent Children as one of the reasons it's better.

Yep. But when you think about it, so is every other Square "game" of late, except Crystal Chronicles.

But you don't even press X every hour or so in Advent Children!

But isn't the "X" button the default "OK" button.  They'd have to press that to start/pause/stop playing the video, no?

FFAC is FF reduced to the basics. And maybeit's the first real FF without random encounters... Naah, wishful thinking.

Or what about the fact that the PSP is getting three games from Capcom?  One was an exclusive GC title called Viewtiful Joe :0.  Koei's also has three games in developement which are dated for this fiscal period.

Koei's support for the PSP is the exact freaking same as the ds--Dynasty Warriors.

So yeah, there's no games MC.  Just keep living in your fantasy world.  Hope you like Egg Monster Hero :0.

I think no new games means mostly ports or semi-sequels (GTAVC->GTA3 style).

Great job repeating yourself there, Ymeegod: So they have games planned for the PSP right now, but are saying they won't be offering any new titles. They'll release the ones they're already making but won't be starting any new projects. Koei may be giving the PSP the same game as the DS, but Koei didn't say they weren't making new DS games. Same with Capcom.

Enjoy Egg Monsters? I'll be enjoying Crystal Chronicles on my DS- the PSP players can enjoy Frogger.

I've changed my mind, I think Mouse_clicker has interpreted the article properly, but I don't think it's quite as serious as it sounds.  I mean, if their current PSP projects make $$$$ you can bet the developers will launch new projects.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Deguello: Some earlier DS discussion claimed that there was a version of Joe in the works for both the PSP and DS...

It's a pity all the bad news about PSP I am hearing. It's the most beautiful looking hand-held system I've ever seen.

If you ask me, both the DS and the PSP look quite ugly. I hope they both go through some redesigns before they're released.

Yeah, it's pretty. But reality keeps taking it's toll on the system. It looked even better back when it was even more fictional. Back when it had touch sensitive controllers and buttons.

The latest version of the PSP looks like an Atari Lynx by comparison.

I happen to find the latter better looking.  But it still looks like a cheap plastic device.

They also acted as though the PS2 would be 100 times as powerful (perhaps I'm exaggerating - but they did overhype it) as the Dreamcast.  ... I wouldn't believe anything Sony says about that until closer to the release.

I expect quite a few of those titles will be delayed... Some developers may have started more recently on them as well.

Ohh Ohh I bet I know what the PSP Viewtiful Joe is gonna be.  It all makes sense now.  I bet it will be VJoe 2 PSP.  Whereas by nature the DS Viewtiful Joe must be a new game.

BTW, it is easy to say how many games will launch with something when that something's launch is a good bit aways.  BURN.

Heh, one issue of the demented Australian mag 'Hyper' claimed the PlayStation 2 would be launching with 750 games in Japan. I kid you not. I'll scan it later for lol.

59 Games on the list, delay one.
58 Games on the list, delay one.
57 Games on the list, delay one.
56 Games on the list, delay one.
...

Besides, it's NOT 59 launch games, it's 59 games in developent in TOTAL. Many are just PS2 ports or boardgames or other redundant stuff.

If that indeed ever did happen, I'm willing to bet roughly 97% will be PS2 ports.

Special PS2..

How many launch games are actually released with the system at launch.  I remember Eternal Darkness, Star Fox Adventures were both suppose to be GCN launch games, just to name two for one system, but ya'll get the idea.  Just because they say a game is gonna launch when the system doesn't mean it actually while, like hos Sony likes to boast on how powerful their system is gonna be but when it's released is not all they said it was gonna be.  And then you have the whole buy the PS2 version and the PSP version and play one and save, and then when on the go play from where you left off on the PSP, that in my opinion is nothing but screams "PORT".
