One of the few pre-Wii games that has a Japan and European release but never came out in North America appears to be headed to Switch 2 and Switch next year - worldwide.

Clear River Games (one of the many subsidiaries of Embracer) has announced a "Rebirth" of the 1995/96 Super Nintendo action RPG Terranigma will release in 2027. The reveal trailer is embedded below:

Terranigma was the final Super Nintendo game released by the developer Quintet, and was the third game in a loose trilogy which also included Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. The game was localized and released in Europe on 19 December 1996, but its North American release plans were scuttled with the closure of the American operations of Enix Corp: Nintendo, who had published Illusion of Gaia in 1994, elected not to release Terranigma due to that fall marking the launch of the Nintendo 64 in North America.

The story of the game features a young man named Ark who lives on a dark side of Earth and after opening a mysterious door, has to return to the "lightside" to resurrect the doomed planet in order to save his home.

An absolute classic that definitely deserves the remaster treatment, though I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't have liked to see Illusion of Gaia in this project as well (and yes, I know there's Soulblazer as well, but c'mon...these are the 2 Quintet games people know). I wonder if they'll make any QoL/balance changes to this version, as the original Terranigma has a real grind problem for exactly one dungeon before it never being an issue again.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

So, the rumours were true.
Whoever said, "Cheaters never win" must've never met Khushrenada.

It's great to see this get a proper release and I will probably get it simply because as a SNES collector it would be silly not to.

But it is looking very barebones.  Other classic RPGs like Suikoden, Mana, Lunar all got Switch releases as part of collections.  I think having Quintet's trilogy of SNES action RPGs would have made for a fuller package.  If it's just going to be by itself then I would expect the Super Mario RPG or Live-a-Live treatment. This looks like a SNES ROM.

What is the price going to be?  If it's a cheaper price then being just the one game is still a good value.  If it's a full-price game it seems too expensive.
