"Bah. I take that back. Atheists ARE far less dangerous than religious EXTREMISTS."

Fixed.  Grey you're original statement was a rather blanket statement and I considered it pretty offensive.  I think "extremist" is a better example.  Extremists blow up buildings in New York.  The average religious person doesn't.

I however agree whole heartingly however with your opinion on how the government ignores the west.  Proportionately to population Prince Edward Island is more represented in the House of Commons than British Columbia.  That's just ridiculous.  Ontario decides the election and that's one of the big reasons why I don't have much patriotism towards Canada.  The French on DVDs pisses me off too particularly when virtually NO ONE outside of Quebec speaks French exclusively.

However I am proud for the most part of the general population of Canada.  Like you mentioned racism is not a big problem here and, although it's somewhat of a stereotype, it's just a friendly place to live.  That sort of peaceful co-existance cannot be created by a government.  It's just a quality of the population.

Athiests are cool.

I happen to be Catholic.

Louisiana, eh?  I happen to live there, and I can honestly say that racism is not really a problem here.  There are too many of each side for the other to be racist

Anyway, the only vaguely racist thing I've noticed in a while is that we have seperate dances, but only because there are two big clubs at the school, one predominately black and one predominately white.  Everyone has been pissed about this lately, and we're intent on only having one prom this year.

Atheists are less dangerous than religious people?  Honestly, no.  Sure, holy wars and bull crap, but do you think the creators of the bombs that fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were developed by Catholics?  Probably not.  I don't really mind one any more than the other, but I can't stand to see either side attacked without fair defense for the other.

Hostile: Are you implying the creators of the A-bomb were atheists? Just because someone's a scientist doesn't mean they're an atheist- hell, even Darwin was a religious man.

Also, nothing personal about Louisiana- I've been there innumerable times since quite literally my entire family is from there, and it's better than Kansas, but I myself wouldn't count it as the prime vacation destination in the Us. Except, of course, for New Orleans- magnficent city.

Hope to go there this Saturday, as a matter o fact.  And no, I'm not implying that all scientists are atheists, but the majority usually is.  Actually, I'm not particularly concerned about all the people that died when the A-bombs fell, I'm just trying to prove a point.  Religious people are not any more dangerous than atheists.  They're all humans, one as dangerous as the next.

Though I also tend to notice that religious people are much more giving toward society and their community, both the religious and nonreligious aspects of it.  I don't know if any of you know what religious freaks down here are like, but I can tell you that they are some of the most devoted, honest, nicest people that I've ever encountered under any circumstances.  I'm far from one of them, and their kindness often pisses me off, but it's the truth.

???
So you think not believing in God is cool yet you yourself believe in God and thus are not cool?  That just seems... weird.

"do you think the creators of the bombs that fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were developed by Catholics?"

Well they might have been.  How do we know?  Odds are at least one person involved in the whole thing was religious in some way.

Quite possibly.  I figure that their beliefs were somewhat diverse in the matter of religion.  That's really the point I'm trying to make.

And I don't think he was implying that only atheists are cool.  There are some nonatheist people that are cool.

I know this kid.  He's an atheist.  Umm.....he writes kickin poetry.  Cool!

Yeah, so I'm not so good with this whole religious thing.  Just to let you know, I'm Catholic.  But I don't really agree with the catholic church.  I haven't gone to church in years.  i like the whole morals of Christianity, like respect and charity and all that stuff.  That's why jesus was always pictured as a human, not some all mighty god-like thing.  we're all equal.

I like to think that there are no gods at all, and religions are only meant to have us be spiritualy healthy and respect other humans (by tricking us into thinking that if we're bad than we'll go to hell and get coal in our stockings.....it's all a scam!)

Next on the "Who wants to go to hell thread, manunited"

America burned Ottawa, who cares.

Atheists are people, it doesn't really make you cool just for that one reason, it just means you don't believe the same things.

Well even if there is no afterlife, isn't religion worth the fact that it keeps most(most, I say, not all) of us humane?...I just can't believe humanity could have lasted this long if it weren't for a set of moral values for us to live by...But I'm going off-topic...Sorry about that...

Atheists do, too! A lot of people have this false image that we all want to destroy religion and kill god, blah, blah, blah. Most of us, just as most people period, believe in Christian ethics, just on in the Christian religion, or any religion. Not to imply you were saying that, KnowsNothing, but you wouldn't believe how many people fake being nice to me when they find out I'm an atheist.

I know what you men, MC.  I didn't mean to imply that at all.

This quote says what I believe.  I don't really want to be a part in any religion, but I am forced to.  Y'know what sucks?  Confirmation.  Confirmation is when I "confirm" what religion I will be when I grow up, yet I'm being forced to do this as a  Catholic.

EDIT:  In response to the next post, "HUZZAH!"

My Catholic friend I spoke of is going to renounce his religion as soon as he turns 18.

Anyway, we're really getting off topic, on account of me mostly. Sorry.

KN, if you really don't want to go through with Confirmation, then just talk to your parents...I'm living through a reallife example with my sister who is getting out of it, so I know what you're looking at...

Age: 13

Now then, do you really want those pictures?...

Don't worry, Bill, I'm not after your sister, and it's okay for KN to be because he's about that age.  Watch out for Grey Ninja, though. . . you never know with him.

Akdaman's sister is right in my range, though. . . it's fun to try to stalk people via the internet, whether you're doing it for real or not.
