Now hear this, Silicon Knights!
« on: October 31, 2003, 09:15:11 AM »
I want a Nightmare on elm street game.  You can have the sleep meter work, just like the sanity meter.  Slipping into dream mode could allow a real diverse atmosphere , while awake mode has you leveling up your character, talking to people and investigating murders in the city.  Make the city huge, like GTA3, so that you can go anywhere you want. You could also play as Freddy.  As Freddy, you would only be in the dream world, and you try and keep the dreamers from leaving.  Leveling up gives you different death skills, different forms and different traps and different dream 'arenas' .  Everytime somebody escapes you, you lose some power.  I wish i could explain it better, but Denis, you can do the rest.

Man, did that game suck.  So did Friday the 13th, for that matter.  All the more reason for Silicon Knights to take this project !

Um. No. SK should stick to original stuff. MGS is OK because SK needs to get some recognition. After that I want Too Human followed by one billion mirillion original and amazingly fun titles.

*looks up mirillion*

how about this...lose the freddy references, and just turn it into a trippy game where you travel between the real world and the dream world.

That would work, but i still want my Freddy done justice, and if done right, it would kick ass.

But it's not ORIGINAL! SK is capable of so much more that making a game out of a slasher movie. That game would have NO plot. Just look at the movies.

I dont know if your getting what i'm saying.  It doesnt have to be about the movies storylines(by the way, 1 and new nightmare were very good stories), SK could make the story themselves.   The only semblence of the movies story lines would be the characters.   SK made a great story for ED, and i think they could come up with an original for this.

I don't think they could give the characters the depth they deserve. People expect heavy on the action and a light story to hold all the blood together. I'm sure they could come up with a story but I wouldn't be interested in the game. Unless it had something REALLY unique like the insanity meter. Then I'd consider it. Traveling betwixt worlds has been done to death. It's a video game cliche.

Did you even read the initial post?  I said it could have a sleep meter, which would work kind of like the insanity meter.

Oops, heh. I have a short memory. Short enough that I would forget what I read as I scrolled down to reply apparently. But even that is something based (very loosely) off of something they already did. I don't know. I guess it could work. They'd have to OK it with me first though.

Although you have a good concept, the sanity meter is one of the unique aspects of Eternal Darkness and SK should keep it unique to Eternal Darkness, and the hopefully the ED series.

it was time for a change.
