I figured this would happen.. who would expect MARIO KART, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy to come out within 2 weeks of each other. Maybe they are adding multiplayer without GBA in the final version of FF:CC for the US release

sending FFCC against FFX2 the same day would have been insane, this is a good move.

Actually, pitting them against each other would have made things a LOT more exciting.  Two Final Fantasy's on the same day...  which to buy!?

I used to look down upon delays. "I want my game when it's scheduled for release and no later!" But I've come to realize that delays can only benefit the game. Like Superlink said, they could be removing the mandatory GBA multiplayer; that will make it sell better than DESTROYOR: TARGET SESAME STREET. Ok, lotsa stuff would sell better than that but still, you get my drift. I wish the BIG N would start delaying their games like in the days of the 64. We'd get great games and third parties would get attention in between. But that's a story for another thread.

It's just so amazing how things have changed since the N64 days.
It used to be that there weren't enough big games and delays were torture. Now there are too many big games and they're a relief.

As for the reason behind FFCC being delayed. I don't think there's any particularly noteworthy reason for it. I don't think it was delayed because Nintendo thought it already had too many big games for the holiday nor do I think it was delayed to make any drastic last-minute changes. It was probably just delayed because they decided they couldn't get it out as soon as expected. Simple as that.

I doubt its to change the multiplayer aspect of the game. They would also be delaying the Japanese version and it would be more in the tune of a couple of months.

True .. is there that much text for them to take 6months to put it in english? Maybe a small team is doing the language and they are already working on their next GC project

Why don't you kind folks ever use our news submission button?  We hardly ever get good submissions, and I got this info from Nintendo as soon as I saw this thread.

Having worked in the gaming industry for several years, I can give you all some great advice on something that I learned early.

1) Ignore release dates. Pretend that you don't see them.
2) The bigger the title, the more chance that it has of not making it's forecasted date.
3) Don't get your panties in a bunch. The games eventually show up.
4) Delays are most often for the good of the final product.

Personally, I am a little dissapointed, but not much.  I wasn't really expecting it to hit its release date on time anyways.  As long as I get one good AAA game this winter, I am happy.  I just hope that that game is my beloved Metal Gear Solid.

I wasn't even aware there was such a button.  I will definately use it next time I get a good tidbit.  I will have to go seek that button out now.

It's hard to be upset about little delays like this considering what we went through during the N64 days. If the Gamecube was like the N64, none of these games would be coming out until Fall 2004 at the earliest and we'd still be waiting for Super Mario Sunshine.

Hey Sword of Mana comes out on my birthday!  Of course I probably won't find it anywhere until like the 3rd but it's neat just the same.

Oddly enough this is like the first time ever on a Nintendo console that I've been more interested with the third party lineup for the fourth quarter than the first party releases.  I'm looking forward to MGS, Rebel Strike and Viewtiful Joe way more than any other titles being released this fall and winter.  Of course nothing tops August when SC2 and F-Zero are being released mere days from each other.  Which one do I buy?  How sucky is it that I haven't bought a game all summer only to have two major releases released at the same time.  ARRRGH!

I couldn't disagree more.  Not all third party support is going to be quality games (unlike this holiday season) and so if Nintendo delayed more games more often we would go through stretches of no quality games.  While this delay doesn't really affect us consumers, others could.
