Sure, why not. If I'm going to troll the hell out of it I might as well participate.

Sign-ups are now closed. Game will begin in a little while. Hmmmm. I wonder if there is a way I can notify everybody at once when the game has begun? I only have 11 carrier pigeons. What to do, what to do.

If people like it, there could be another game of it in the future. My advice for you right now is to stop taking these forums for granted and check them everyday if you don't want to miss out on cool stuff like this.

What determined the turn order? People who go earlier have a clear advantage over people who choose later.

Perhaps. It really depends on when a person chooses a dud word and who gets to choose afterwards I think. As the game has been unfolding, part of me wonders if next time (if there is a next time) there should be a few more extra words as well with the possibility that it could loop back around to the person who chose first. At least that way, when it is two players left, the final guess wouldn't be a 50/50 proposition and have a potential for more back and forth. I didn't go that route because right now, I think this will lead to a lot more pressure with each pick as the players and choices get eliminated.

To actually answer your question, for this game, I gave all players a number based on when they signed up. 1-13. I then used a random number generator to give me that sequence of numbers in a new order and used that as the order selection sequence. In the future, it could be done by number of posts, username scrabble score rankings, alphabetical, previous game results, and any other criteria. The host doing the game could be as creative as they want in setting that part up.

Yes...I think having more words would be better.  And perhaps allow players to write up to 3 words if they want to get risky and eliminate words from the list.  That way there is more strategy.

We play a reading game in my English classes where you have sentences and you can read 1, 2, or 3 words in the sentence but if you read the last word you are out.  The sentences are long and the game isn't really fair, but there is strategy in how many words your read.

This would be similar if there are 10 players and 20 words.  Imagine Player 1 might want to say 5 words just to get rid of them while there is less of a risk.  You could also have other special words like:

Skip a Player, Reverse Order, Go again, and so on.

I like this idea^ there should be Mario Party-style shenanigans added.

Unfortunately, it has already started as you may have gathered.

Funny you should say that as thinking about what Spak-Spang described reminded me of the Balloon Busters mini-game in Mario Party 7.

Still, I like the fact that already this game is showing how we can do many variations on it. There is the basic game which would be the one going on now and the more complicated versions that Spak-Spang is describing. That's what has made mafia so big through all the variations we've been able to have. This game is showing potential to have many variations as well.

Right now, this game is more like Mario Party 2's mini-game Bowser's Big Blast

Interesting thing about that game is if all that players correctly dodge the bomb trigger and the bomb trigger is the last one left, it will reset all triggers and have the players start again. In our current forum game, if the bomb word is the last one left, the next player up is forced to take it. Another variation found!
