That's a bit harsh! I think the game is slow to start, but there's tons of neat little details to be found throughout. The skill screen is suitably massive, and the neat reset item is sure to encourage different builds. The shooting is weird but there are tons of control options to make it buttery smooth. Unlocking weapons isn't that bad (I used six decoder keys and ended up getting an item), and of course, the missions become more interesting (read: difficult and full of enemies) once you move into the next tier. Also, it's unfortunate that half of the characters rely so heavily on ranged weaponry, since the melee combat is really much more interesting.
I think there's still plenty of neat stuff to find, though I haven't quite gotten the grasp of it all. Sure, it's a timesink, and there doesn't seem to be any friend-related matchmaking (I sue hope that changes with the full release), but it is stupid and fun.
EDIT: Yeeeeah, this game doesn't give a good first impression, but once you hit level 5 and start obtaining key cards and running the more complex dungeons, the tension amps up a lot and the game becomes really fun. The first boss battle is INSANE! Atop that, there's chances that you'll encounter minibosses that will drop extra loot as well. I could definitely see myself getting really lost in this game.
