I'm starting to think the Wonderful 100 are just made of Middle Aged people.

gives me hope that I'll become a Wonder Hero when I'm middle-aged. Don't ruin it for me, Ceric!

I still think that Nintendo should have released a actin figure or trading card line for this game, and possibly a TV series for kids.

They should include, and advertise the inclusion of a download code for a Bayonetta 2 demo.

Wonderful 101 looks like and E or T affair, I don't think they'd go for a download code for an M title..

I wouldn't mind if they did, but I would understand why it likely won't happen.

Why not? Shin Megami Tensei 4 on the 3DS is an M-rated title you can buy through digital download. Just throw a worthless age gate on the on-disc demo that any 2 year old could figure out how to get around and you're set.

The new trailer at the end of today's Nintendo Direct was absolutely awesome.

I sure hope this game sells well. It seems as though it might have wider appeal than other Wii U games. Hopefully it interests players both young and old.

Oh, and in case you didn't catch it in today's Direct, this game will be available on September 15th.

So apparently there's a Wonderful 101 demo out today everywhere but in North America.  Go figure. No one would ever accuse the modern NoA of being interested in selling games.

Are we bitching over demo for a game this is still over a month away from release? Even the highly anticipated Madden demo only drops 2 weeks before the game.

Also, in keeping with the spirit of this Direct, I believe every other post should end with a reminder of the release date.

Madden has also essentially been the same game every year since the Xbox 360 launch, if not earlier. If you want a demo for the new Madden, there's likely near-7 years' worth of Madden demos up on the service of your choice.  This is presumably a new game and one that's doomed to fail unless NoA gets the marketing out and generates some positive buzz.

So you want them to fire all their bullets today? The Direct is already generating positive buzz. There's no point in having the demo come alongside it when the game is still so far away. More promotion after this and a demo at the end of the month sounds like a better plan than just going "here, have everything today."

1.  If a demo & a Nintendo Direct are all Nintendo has to market Wonderful 101, they're firing blanks and the game will fail just like most Platinum games do.

2.  I've never subscribed to this ridiculous notion Nintendo (and by extension their die-hard fans) seems to have that the game won't sell as well if you actually allow people to build anticipation for a game longer than a week in advance.  Get the demo out to be the one-two punch with the Direct, and then support the game with actual advertising in the month leading up to release.  That's called a "marketing campaign", a term that seems to be a foreign concept to NoA these days.  And lest we forget, September's a big month for game releases. If Nintendo waits until the last possible second like they always do, they'll get buried by just about every other release.

Then it doesn't matter what Nintendo does if the real problem is that Platinum Games makes cult hits, not commericial hits.

And once again NoA seems to be struggling to maintain a consistent message, because it seems the Wonderful 101 demo will be out today in NA after all: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAABAABnUgHp_DP2FQ

Quote
Good morning, it's Satoru Iwata of Nintendo. I wanted to let you know that we've just released our latest Nintendo Direct on the official YouTube channel. In this Direct, Mr. Hideki Kamiya of PlatinumGames goes into details about The Wonderful 101 that will be released on September 15th. The game's demo will be available later today. Thank you for your patience.

Alright, that's more like it. Now how about an actual marketing campaign, Mr. Iwata?

Was there a previous message that said the demo *wouldn't* be out in NA today?

Well, I think NoA's total silence on a demo coming to NA as consumers in Europe & Japan were downloading it right after the Direct constitutes a message.  Hell, in Nintendo of America's case, "silence" is more often their official response to any given matter about game releases than an actual written or spoken statement.

NoA's usual inability to control their own message notwithstanding, at least we're getting the demo today, though it'll probably hit the eShop after I've gone to work so I won't get a chance to play it till after midnight tonight.  :(   Still, at least we're getting it with the "cool kids" in Europe and Japan.
