Advanced Wars Wii U
« on: January 16, 2013, 09:01:17 PM »
I was doing some brainstorming for a potential Advanced Wars for the Wii U and I came up with one single question for this forum: What if the next Advanced Wars was released for the Wii U, however, the only catch is that it abandons the cartoony look of the series for that of photo-realism like the Cal of Duty series. I am not saying that the series ahould be an FPS, but ti should keep the shell of the series, except that military vehicules and technology look like the real thing and soldiers look like that of modern FPS games when they fight on the big screen.

Aside from how awful this idea is, the next Advance Wars should (and will) be on the 3DS, not the Wii U.

I favor a more traditional Advanced Wars for the 3DS and a phot-realistic version for the Wii U to appease hardcore gamers.

I don't think hardcore gamers are going to be appeased by a turn based strategy game on a console regardless of what it looks like.

Exactly. If this was the case, BMX XXX would've been a million seller

Just give me Battalion Wars 3 in glorious HD on Wii U with touchscreen unit placement and dual-analogue control, and I'll be wonderfully ecstatic.

...Maybe this is the game NST has been working on?

Don't get me wrong, Kytim, I'd love to see an Advance Wars in console form - especially with the Wii U's GamePad to track and move units - while the attack sequences play out on the TV screen. That'd be fantastic, actually. I just really, REALLY prefer the Battalion Wars games over Advance Wars. So good.

So yeah, give me AW on 3DS or Wii U. I don't care, really. But Battalion Wars 3 in HD? HEY LOOK, NINTENDO. MY POCKETS HAVE MONIES IN THEM FOR YOU.

Yes, if you switched from Advance Wars to Batallion Wars and had Nintendo make a realistic military third-person shooter with heavy RTS elements, I'm pretty sure that would appease the hardcore, and also me.

*ahem*

*points to the most recent XCOM.*

But yeah, I'm not getting a vibe that the Battalion Wars games sold particularly well, so that's probably doomed the series on consoles. Besides, Japan's only gotten MORE handheld-obsessed since the launch of the Wii.

In my mind's eye I see Advanced Wars for the Wii U and I see one player using the game's version of a B-2 Spirit to bomb the HQ of an opposing player. This game could be the one that finally gives an excuse for two Gamepads.

I am talking about an Advanced Wars with an art style similar to that of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

I don't care what it looks like, as long as it plays like Advance Wars and has good matchmaking!

Nintendo were trying to go with a more gritty style with the reboot Days of Ruin. I imagine they would still keep to a more animated look. Going too realistic means splatters of blood everywhere and that just pushes the age rating up without really adding anything significant to the experience.

Just photo realism without the blood spatter. The game could get a Teen rating at most. Just something to appeal to hardcore game players.
