Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure Preview
« on: September 29, 2012, 09:26:56 AM »

As an apprentice fairy godmother with five Disney Princesses and their worlds to save, don't forget to bring your bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.

The power and popularity of a Disney Princess is hard to deny, and Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure features five of the iconic characters to meet and interact with: Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Tiana. And with each princess comes her own magical, enchanted, fantasy world for players to explore

But you won't be responsible for simply visiting these worlds; you'll be responsible for saving them too. That's because while you may not be playing a princess, you're playing someone just as destined for greatness if the Disney movies are anything to go by: an apprentice to a fairy godmother. However, just as Mickey had some missteps as The Sorcerer's Apprentice (in Disney's Fantasia), you likewise have a problem on your hands: you've accidentally turned friendly magical Sprites into mischievous Imps who are interfering with the kingdoms of each Princess!

Armed with a magic wand, you'll need to go to each world and turn the Imps back into Sprites. In doing so, not only will you meet with each princess, but you'll also meet other Disney characters like Lumiere, Cogsworth, Pascal, Flounder, Scuttle, Jac and Gus. According to the game's brief trailer, you'll get to become a mermaid when you visit Ariel's world under the sea, and according to some early screenshots, that may be where you have to deal with a Disney villain since Ursula may be making an appearance.

Twirling the Wii Remote to do a magical spin attack in the game seems to be a major part of the trailer.

As you explore these kingdoms looking to set things right, you'll find quests to complete, puzzles to solve, and mini-games designed to suit and challenge apprentice fairy godmothers. The trailer hints at some of these activities: leaping from platform to platform in an enchanted forest, catching falling books in a village library, or even dancing in a grand ballroom.

And while you're rescuing each kingdom from ruin, you'll be earning gems to spend within the game. These gems allow you to customize your own avatar with a wardrobe full of tiaras, dresses, and accessories. You'll also be able to spend the gems to decorate your very own room in the Fairy Godmother's castle with things like furniture, wallpaper, and more!

One last note about the adventure: you won't have to go it alone. The Wii version of the game (though not the 3DS version) will support drop-in-drop-out cooperative multiplayer for two Disney fans at once.

Would-be-princesses and fairy-godmothers-in-training don't need to wait; Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure is already out for the Wii and 3DS.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Hey, lame as this may look to most people on this site... My kids still love the crap out of this game.  They'd go bonkers if I picked this up.  However, Cai's description of this game almost sounds like the game we already have.  Hmmmm... I wonder if it's worth it.

What game do you own MustBeBurt?

I must confess, I've played NONE of the games in this series. I'm hoping to review this title, but I'm not sure what to expect or how this game might possibly compare against previous entries.

The game we have is called Disney Princess Enchanted Journey.  Here is a link for Amazon.  I have 2 girls ages 6 and 8 and they love it.  We've had it for about 2 years and they must have run through it 5 or 6 times.  The setup and mechanics sound like they will be very similar to this new game.
