In a thread around here somewhere... (I seem to have lost it now, and there doesn't seem to be an existing Star Fox thread) I said that I wasn't too impressed with the new Star Fox game...  I take it back.

I just watched the full trailer, and I am quite impressed.  It looks a lot different (and better) in full motion.  It's like Star Fox 64... on GameCube.  I read the impressions both here and at IGN, and I guess it plays like Star Fox 64 as well.  What more could you ask for... seriously?

Can you tell me where I can find the footage?  My friend is an avid Star Fox fan (as am I, but less so), but his net is down.  I'd like to show him as much as possible.

All of my E3 footage has been coming from IGN actually.  I am on a public computer, so I can't get anything from Gigex, or Fileplanet, or anything like that.  It seems to be working fine though, as they haven't put a hold on me yet, and it seems I can download as much of their free stuff as I please.

The Star Fox video can be found here

You have to be lucky to get it to work, and once it does it takes a while to dl(20 min for me, on cable )...The opening FMV was great and the multi looks fun as it was in SF64.  Because they are focusing so hard on the multi, they better add LOTS of maps.

If we saw the same one. . .

That was as goofy as heck.  But yes, it looks very good.  I was disappointed that they didn't show anything other than multiplayer and attacking landmasters and stuff, but it still looks very awesome.

Well, I didn't get any sound with the video (public computer, but I brought a CDR with me today), but what I saw looked very cool to me.  Not really goofy, (probably my lack of sound), but lots of intense Star Fox action, with a new glowing engine effect that made for a very cool end-of-level cinematic.

Also, it seems that Nintendo managed to steal Krystal from Rare.  Interesting.

It was only goofy because the voice of Fox was saying stuff like "New multiplayer action!" and "Try out all new so and so".  It wasn't part of the game, just the trailer.  The SFA trailer was pretty dumb, too.  Something about species, and kickbuttis.  The games are good, though, and that's what counts.

Rare probably had to hand it over since she was attached to the star fox license like how ALL of the kongs, even Rare designed ones, stayed with the DK property. But Rare kept all of their original franchises like Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark. It sounds fair enough IMO.

I love the new arwing look. It reminds me of the old SNES ones (i just played that one yesterday) and really fits the more action oriented feel of how the game will be versus SFA and its gimmiky flight sequences.

If theres two worthwhile lessons I learned from watching the trailer there not to pilot an arwing in the urban settings or confront a landmaster while on foot.
At least this time around the people on foot will have more structures and barriers to seek cover behind. That was not the case in the last games very open deathmatch areas. You had to constantly watch the sky and the ground at the same time or you would either get divebombed by an arwing or turned into roadkill by the landmaster.

Actually, if you played with people who didn't know how to use the radar, they usually can't find you.  But yes, the urban setting will help.  My only hope is that you fight enemies other than arwings and landmasters.  That's what it looked like in the trailer.

Actually, I found that the multiplayer on the N64 was like Rock Paper Scissors.

Landmaster could cream an Arwing like you wouldn't believe.
Foot Soldiers could kill a Landmaster in seconds.
An Arwing can kill someone on foot in a heartbeat.

I think you were talking about my Star Fox Armada thread.  If you are, d'oh!  All these posts could have been added to my thread had I decided to respond to it one last time three days ago...

Anyway, the multiplayer seems interesting, but the meat of Star Fox has always been in its single-player missions, something none of us knows anything about.
Who could ever forget all the classic quotes from Falco, Peppy, and Slippy especially in Star Fox 64?  None come to my mind, but I do hope they at least bring back the horrible writers behind Star Fox 64 to write even more memorable lines.
Other than that, I expect the Arwings to have more of an arsenal this time around and for the missions to have more paths leading to the end.

I got some killaz on my payroll.

Im much more interested in the single player also. I know the game is focused more on the multiplayer but I really hope the single player is just as good as Star Fox 64 but being at least twice the size, with lots and lots of stages.  But I don't think Nintendo would let Namco screw it up.

And I wonder if their will be missions on foot in the story mode. I really hope not, I just wan't  lots of Arwing and just the right amount of Land Master, at least 10.

And if the multiplayer is good(and I know it will be) this game will be sure to last, just like Smash and Time Splitters.

One more thing, has Peppy been mentioned at least once yet? I wouldn't mind him being tooken out of the Arwings and stuff since hes about 52-54 now, but I would at least like him to be apart of the story.

As long as they include lots more tasty FMV like that intro scene in the trailer, I will be satisfied.

I wouldn't worry too much for a story, because the story was non-existant in the past games.  Hopefully the opposite is true.

I really don't care about the deathmatch.  If the new game has co-op in the main campaign, I'd love to play it.  This is something the Star Fox series has been begging for ever since the first game.

Huh... I'd have to say this is what I'm looking forward to right now, other than Metroid Zero Mission. I've been longing for a good StarFox game in a long time. It looks like it's going to be a blast to play, Multiplayer emphasis or not. But it looks like Namco might be laying on the "All range mode" of things this time around. Not that such a thing is bad, but I really want some scrolling action, like in the original.

Now, if only Nintendo could get someone to make a PilotWings game.... I just recently played the original again all the way through, and I must say, I really wish there were more games like those. Pure skill is involved when piloting that Light Plane or the hang glider... and the last mission involving the helecopter at night? Phew... that's a doozy.

I'm actually incredibly dissapointed with the footage.

i don't care for starfox multiplayer.

I wanted a great, single player game.
(maybe with Co-op.)

and those graphics look horrendous.

I imagine the single player will be very good, and with a very good multiplayer.  I do hope there's more variations in enemies than there were in the footage, though.  Only landmasters and arwings.

The graphics are fine for me, but I don't usually judge on graphics much.

Star Fox multiplayer is awesome, as is the single player (or co-op).

It was kind of dissappointing to know that Namco and Nintendo worked on the multiplayer first and foremost, they better have a nice single player hidden up their sleeve.

whe's star fox coming out?  because as the graphics now are pretty meek, i'm sure they'll fix them up a bit.  umm.. any of you hate ow you had to play the whole star fox 64 game in one sitting?  i mean, the game was short, so it was a goo idea not to be able to save, but what d you think of the next one?  i has to be longer, should we save?  anyway, what i'm looking forward to most is being able to play on foot.  i never played SFA (except for like two minutes at wal-mart), and unlocking it in SF64 was to hard for me, so i'm still wondering what it's like.  oh yeah, i absolutly hate fox's voice.  it's too high pitched, and will really get on my nerves.  in fact, from what i heard at wal-mart, all  of the voices were bad in SFA.
