Because it's income and income gets taxed.

Only if you sell at a profit. (Capital gains taxes are a B***H, girlfriend.)

Capital gains taxes are generally significantly less than income taxes(at least in the US).  Not exactly a bitch.

I was looking at them last night and they were 16.79 a share, I was thinking about buying 30.

when Wii was at its height i think the stocks were like 78.50 if you bought 30 shares right now it would be like $495.
If they jump back up that much the value would be $2,355. $1,860 in profit. I wish I had $500 dollars to invest. Next year there will be games to sell, there's no company debt, so between Nov 2012 and December 2014 there's a lot of money to make.

Don't count on Nintendo stock approaching anything close to $80 again. It was unbelievably overvalued at that price, and I doubt the market will go crazy a second time.

That said, I still think there is a good chance to make a tidy profit buying in now.  If I had money to throw away, I'd take the risk and see what happened. If Wii U bombs and the stock sinks, it's the kind of novelty item that I wouldn't mind holding onto anyway.

Right now I see Wii U as something people will like more once its in homes, so it would have a slow profit growth. Then BAM

Smash Bros. Zelda. Mario. Whatever the hell Retro is making. Third parties jump in. Stock jump.

what I like about Wii U is there are a lot of things that people won't initially think are special, but will take for granted later.
