The nice thing is that they now have an Android app so that you can keep your games updated (also works for the previous bundle). I wish they integrated with Google Play or something, but it's better than nothing.

Bundle V just dropped.
Quote
The acclaimed action-platformer Psychonauts bears all the marks of a mad Tim Schafer/Double Fine creation: a zany premise, standout characters, and fun-above-all gameplay. In Psychonauts, you play as Raz, a psychically gifted kid at a summer camp-slash-training facility for mentalist super agents. When the camp falls to a dastardly deception, it’s up to Raz to traverse through the minds of various camp characters to save himself and his friends.

The captivating puzzle-platformer LIMBO is a modern classic, putting players in control of a boy’s journey through a tense and hostile world. The protagonist is as fragile and hardy as you’d expect of a young kid, making for a novel and sometimes surprisingly intense adventure. With incredibly tight platforming, detailed 2D graphics, and well-designed puzzles, LIMBO has rightfully earned critical and popular acclaim for the Danish indie studio, Playdead.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
is Frictional Games’ first-person, survival horror masterpiece, pitting a weaponless protagonist against the darkest secrets of the castle he’s trapped in. With an emphasis on puzzle-solving and maintaining sanity amidst unspeakable abominations, Amnesia’s tense adventure breaks new ground for a well-loved, but challenging genre.

Superbrothers: The Sword & Sworcery EP
delivers a completely fresh adventure gaming experience, defying conventions to develop a unique kind of storytelling. The plot is unveiled in “sessions,” each of which involves traveling through the countryside and solving puzzles and combat challenges. Every scene overflows with rich graphic and auditory details, featuring distinctive artwork by Superbrothers Inc and music and sound design by Jim Guthrie.

The action-RPG Bastion won over the gaming public with its incredible attention to every detail—from the tight combat controls, to the inspired, narrator-driven storytelling in a novel, post-apocalyptic fantasy world. Players take on the role of the Kid, entrusted with the thankless task of restoring the world after a disastrous calamity. With a none-too-small arsenal of stylized weapons, jaw-dropping art, and amazing music, Bastion truly deserves its reputation as a must-play indie game by Supergiant Games.
Psychonauts and Bastion gentlemen. The last bundle was weak, but this isn't.

Nice. I was recently wondering if the Indie Bundles had lost their appeal - the last couple haven't been very interesting for me and seemed to have included some repeats in the bonus content - but this proves me wrong. Bastion in particular is a game I've been curious to try.

Chalk me up for more games that I'll likely never play!

What's this?  A handy Ubuntu link for us weirdo OS users?  I take it back again. Maybe these will get played!

Ubuntu. :P

Anyway.  I bought this because I recently got a controller for my PC and I wanted Bastion and couldn't find it.  Ironically this will be the second time I've bought Psychonauts for my PC.  Lets see if I play it this time.

1 cent. But you can only activate on Steam if you pay at least a dollar and only get Bastion if you pay above the average.

No, I meant if you pay below the average you don't get Bastion, you just get the other games.

I have to scratch my head a bit at this bundle.  Sure, the games are well-renowned and are considered to be high-quality (though I personally don't like Psychonauts), but Amnesia's really the only game here I'd want to play on PC.  I already own Limbo on two consoles, and I'm holding out for a possible PS3 version of Bastian.  Between some other obligations, I just don't have the money to pay over the current average for this bundle until probably after the Bundle sale is over, so I'll probably sit this one out.  I'll just wait until Amnesia gets some absurd Steam clearance sale where it's $5 or something.

Is Bastion considering a higher caliber than the other games?

It's newer and higher profile than the others. Last I checked the average was $7.something, which is about half of what it would cost to buy the game new even without factoring in the other games.

For what it's worth, Bastion is easily the most appealing  of the games to me, and the one that might push me to buy the bundle despite the strict budget I'm going to have to be on after buying a Vita and going to E3. I should probably just wait, as the only one I really care about is Bastion and it will be on sale on Steam at some point for less than that.

So why don't you pay $5 (or $3, or whatever) now and get Amnesia immediately instead of waiting for a price drop?  You don't need to play any of the other games, although you'd have the option to.  You don't have to exceed the average if you aren't interested in Bastion... and this way you can determine exactly where your money goes: developers, charity, or humble bundle tip.

Personally, I think it's a stellar line-up.  Bastion is the "big name", and deservedly so given all the critical praise it's garnered, but the other games are also critical darlings that are worth trying if you don't already own them on other platforms (and I don't).

Ubuntu. :P:

...

Meh.  It's free, easy to install, generally user-friendly, and actively supported with more stuff becoming available all the time.  When Windows 7 went down on my home PC with irrecoverable errors and then the recovery partition didn't work, I was left with no legal OS to use and this was the first good solution that I found.

Ubuntu isn't perfect by any means... but it's been good enough for home and work use in my situation.

Seriously?!  Because you don't want the rest of the games, you won't pay for this one for $1 or more ($1+ to get Steam codes) which you know goes to the developers, charity or the humble bundle people.  Are you sure you don't want to rethink this?

I think most of these games are fairly low in the system requirements department.

I need to try Bastion, maybe I will wait to install until I upgrade my Linux. hmm....

I believe in developers getting the money they've earned, and as such as view people who skimp that low with disdain.  If I was going to get this bundle, I'd at least pay the average amount to get all the games, and that's money tied into other things right now.  So yes, I'd much rather wait for a $5-$10 Amnesia Steam sale than be a jerk and not pay these people at least a respectable amount for their work.

You are going to pay by credit card anyway so your not paying now, but "later", unless for some reason you have maxed out your credit. In that case, you have much bigger issues. If you pay for the Bundle, the developers get a lot more money than if you brought it from Steam at the same price. You don't have to pay them $10 for the bundle, you can pay them $50 if that fancies you. Remember all these games have made budget and then some, at this point everything is cream on top. The point of the bundle is not to guilt you or negging, but to make you feel good and as an experiment into piracy.

One more question: I don't have a gaming PC or Steam. Should I buy these so that when I finally get a better spec PC, I'll be able to play it?

You don't have to use Steam if you don't want to. They offer full DRM free versions to play and the downloads don't expire and outside of Bastion, the requirements are fairly shallow and somewhat inflated since they had to guess most of the time. Steam just makes future updates easier. Also even if you use the Steam keys, you can still download the non-Steam versions if you what.

I just checked, and you can increase your order amount even after the bundle ends, so you could put down $1 to "reserve" the games and then add more later. Or you could look at it like a try-before-you-buy situation where you pay what you think is worthy after playing the games.

Suffice it to say that I have my credit cards locked away for my own protection.  I was irresponsible with them a few years back when I first moved out on my own, and I've been paying for it since.  It's not something I'm proud of, but keeping my credit cards where I can't access them and only using funds on-hand has kept my finances relatively under control since.

I picked it and I am enjoying it so far.   I just beat Limbo and while I enjoyed the game I'm glad I didn't pay for it alone.  The beginning starts off so great with the spider and then running into the people but it quickly loses its charm and just seemed like I was going through the motions in the factory setting.

They should have just not brought in the factor stuff at all.  The spider and running into the fake spider people made was so good and creepy.  The first brain slug was good too but that got old fast when they kept introducing them.
