I'll definitely choose Panzer Dragoon and Jet set Radio; hell I be happy with any of SEGA's old IPs being saved from Sega.

Yeah... Sega was awesome, reaching their peak with the Dreamcast. But then there games quickly declined in quality afterward. So sad. :(

Speaking of Sega, we need Shenmue III. That series was way ahead of its time (though not always in good ways, as it introduced quick time events and was the first "planned trilogy" I can remember), and they need to rerelease the first two and finish the series, in a way that lets me carry my save the whole way through.

Sega doesn't want to actually pay for it, remember that Sega admitted that they would make Shenmue III if one of the console manufacturers would pay for the cost of it.

At this point, I don't really want Sega to make the game; I want somebody else to handle the development. They can let Yu Suzuki be in charge, but I want it to be a team from outside Sega, maybe like the special team they formed to make SSB Brawl.

I thought that the QTE was fine in Shenmue. It's other games that gave it a bad name.

I still have my save file sitting on a VMU. I remember it being a little tricky tranferring my first save over to the sequel, as it was an imported title. There were plenty of instructions on how to do it at the time though. I'd hate to loose all of my bubble-machine toy collections in the third game! :P

Republic Commando. Could be the best game ever.

I just noticed this little comment.  Nice choice.  I don't think any other game since has even attempted to try the same things.  A sequel might even tell me what happened to Sev, too, dang it.  I read the stupid books hoping to get an answer to that -- something I regret on multiple levels.

Honestly Republic Commando desperately needed co-op. I don't know why it didn't have it. You play the entire game with three AIs at your side. How hard would it be to replace them with a player and up the difficulty?

As far as older IPs go...I really, really would have liked to see Capcom make a Mega Man Legends 3.  As clunky and silly as that series was, it had a lot of charm.  I loved the Saturday morning anime-type feel to it at the time.
Okay, I really, really hope this turns out to be true!  ... http://protodudesrockmancorner.blogspot.com/2010/09/mml-fans-will-be-happy-soon-says-former.html

Hideki Kamiya, former director to some of Capcom's biggest games, knows something we don't know about Mega Man Legends. In a series of back-and-forth Tweets, Kamiya is teasing fans of the series that they will pleased with something coming down the pike. The first tweet is as follows (UPDATE: a much more accurate translation provided by TMMN):

"Oh, finally, I was introduced to Capcom’s Kawano-san today, who  was also the maker of Rockman DASH. But when I told him the wish to  “make a sequel to DASH” from a certain person, he gave me some sort of  grin… If it’s good it’s good I suppose… Goodnight.”
..and then, in a followup Tweet:
"If you're [a] Dash fan, you'll be happy soon."

I enjoyed the game Dark Summit which was a combination snowboard racing and platforming game. You had to sometimes lace some very insane grinds and jumps together to get through some areas. While the package as a whole was limiting and reeked of teen angst the mechanics would be worth visiting again. The game boasted a unified mountain and unlocking new areas meant starting farther and farther up the peak. So you could travel all the way down and discover new secret routes via grinds and extreme jumps.

It also had a story attached to it where you had an organization trying to keep you from finding secrets on the mountain. I would make a game like that and evolve it into a parkour-snowboarding game that focused on finding new and hidden places. Make it more open-world/sand-box with the options to race or explore new areas and include a story.

I think I'd have the ability to build my own, especially for the games I'd like to revive (e.g. Stratosphere really needs a new version but nobody knows the IP anyway so making up a new one would be easy). Metroid could use a rescue from its current owner though.
Great!!!!

Wow, what is that ugly mess?

When I see more than just Playstation quality FFVII quake 3 models I'll tell you.

Even proper Playstation quality would be better than that early 90s CG you're showing there. Try UV mapping and watch your geometry when using subdivision.

Can't believe I forgot to mention Crash Bandicoot. That series is close to dying off after a sequence of bad games in the '00s. It must learn from the original trilogy on PlayStation and expand upon those three to get back on track.

Gauntlet, this series needs to be brought back and done right again. I know with a little modern game design that IP could be so much better. I'd prefer to just launch it as a sequel, I like to avoid relaunches personally. I'd hire an existing dev.

Mortal Kombat.  This latest version may fix its downward spiral, but the series could be a great fighter and I'd like to see something happen to it.

Iggy's Wreckin' Balls could use a revival, nice fast paced weird game.

I've seen some indie games try to be like Gauntlet lately.

I think Koei's Dynasty Warriors (and spinoffs) need to be salvaged. Not that it was good but it really needs some improved gameplay and I don't mean throwing yet more special moves and meters in there.

For those wishing for a sequel to Freespace 2, well it won't happen, but here is the next best thing.

The Freespace source code project.

We will probably never get an official Freespace 3, but that doesn't matter. With the SCP it looks as badass as any modern game and has all the sweet gameplay and more features than retail ever had. It plays on all three mainstream OS's found on a x86.

It is little fiddly on first install unless you find and use a torrent with everything prearranged. Once you get everything working, it's not Nintendo solid, but it would slap a 360 silly.

It's not entirely free in the sense that the installer on the site is missing some retail files you need to run, but copies can be purchased from GOG for a pretty reasonable price. Once you are done replaying the retail campaigns, have  gander at the user made.

Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius - Director's Cut Is so good, it might as well be Freespace 3. Set after the events of FS2, so play retail first. It's a little heavy on philosophy and mysticism but packs some serious gameplay. It's sequel just released, War in Heaven, eases off on the religion and is a more personal story. It has a lot more boom than AOA. It's not yet fully voice acted like AOA, but that is in the works.

There are also a bunch of really good campaigns that come with the installer. Joystick or equivalent is very highly recommended. Have fun.
