I'm more concerned with no screen dimmer than I am with a dedicated channel at this point.

I use my Wii a lot more now that Netflix is on it. It guarantees that I turn it on atleast once every other day if not everyday and all day on some days. I often fall asleep to a Netflix movie late at night and now I wake up to the screen still on, but when I use it through the computer, the power saver kicks in and and turns the screen black or the screen saver kicks in.

Does anybody here also have the PS3 disc? Do you remember how long it took to get the disc? I've been waiting over a week and it still says my PS3 disc is "Pending", I got my Wii one last Thursday.

It dims on my TV. Though it might be only if the movie is paused.

I haven't checked while the movie is paused(I'm checking that right now), but I'm talking about on the main screen. Mine doesn't dim, and it has that bright red Netflix bar at the top and red is a strong color that can burn in easy (it's done it before but it goes away).

edit: It doesn't dim at all on anything.

I just left the movie paused for as long as it took me to edit this post and there was no dimmer.

Still debating on whether or not to sign up for netflix just for this. What's the verdict on quality guys? Waching it on the 360 at my friends house has great quality.

I wish I knew about this before I signed up for my Netflix trial, but if you are a member of Best Buy's Reward Zone Gamer's Club (it's free to join) and sign up for Netflix on through their site, you get 500 points right away and 100 points each month for six months; a total of 1,100 point. You get a $5 gift card at every 250 point spot, so you can end up getting $20 worth of BB gift cards just for being a Netflix member (the normal deal with the Reward Zone is that you get 1 point for every $1 you spend, but they sometime offer 250 or 500 point bonuses for buy select games). Don't forget that you can also register the disc on Club Nintendo, and Netflix is worth it even if you don't stream anything.

Not the quality of what I hear the 360 displays (HD) but the quality is very similar to watching a regular DVD on TV and it loads with roughly the same speed as it does on the computer.

The interface is easy to use and easy to learn.

The only downside is no screen dimming/screen saver and you need to put the disc in everytime.

Otherwise, if you like the Netflix streaming selection and you have a Wii hooked up to a TV that doesn't currently stream Netflix movies, then this is definitely worth the purchase. You also get DVD releases in the mail, so it's more than worth the price of admission.

For all of you on the fence of do or don't

here is where you go to see whats available or will be available on Netflix Istant Watch service:
http://instantwatcher.com/

and also know that for the 1st month or so you do get priority on ALL New Releases, so if you're gonna time your Free trial, do it when there are new releases that you want to watch.

Netflix sent me a envelope with four cards that are good for a month free of the service, each one has a code to enter so if you're still on the fence about the whole thing send me a PM and I'll send you the url and code.

I heard a Netflix ad on the radio today specifically championing the ability to watch Netflix via your Wii. Thought it was funny that they are promoting that service better than some big publishers push actual games.

Believe it or not, I had an older couple come in a few days ago and buy a Wii *just* for the ability to watch Netflix on their TV.

And you didn't feel obligated to point out that you can get a box that'll do that for a quarter of the price?

this isn't 100% related to what you were just talking about but...

The Google TV advert(that I saw on BestBuy.com) advertises Netflix, but not specifically for Wii.
Comcast OnDemand also referenced Netflix(by image, not name) when pushing same day as New release Ondemand movies.

And you didn't feel obligated to point out that you can get a box that'll do that for a quarter of the price?
If they didn't ask....

But maybe that was the push to finally get the Wii so the grandkids can play when they come over since the Older Couple wasn't actually interested in most of the games.

Yup - they didn't ask. :p

To be honest, they seemed to know exactly what they were getting and sounded like they had researched it - they asked a little about Netflix on the PS3 and 360, seemingly mostly to confirm what they already knew - and we also discussed hooking their PC up to their TV.

I asked them about games and they said they weren't interested, but that the grand kids would bring some over when they came - leading me to believe the Wii would get some use that way.

I think it's obvious that Netflix on Wii has become a selling point to it's massive casual crowd and that both companies can profit greatly from cooperating more in the future.

Just more fuel for my Netflix on 3DS theory.

They've got the entire history of the series up there; there's something from pretty much every good comedian in the last decade, and then some.
