DK Jungle Climber is one of the best and hardest games on the DS. Maybe too hard.

All I've ever played is Donkey Kong 64. It is good but it gets tedious with the amount of junk there is to collect.
I should really look into getting the Donkey Kong Country games for the Super NES.

The only ape game ever needed is a sequel to Jungle Beat made by Tokyo EAD. Hopefully once they get this Mario Galaxy stuff out of their system they'll make a real game.
