I think it was a great press conference. I'm mostly psyched for Forza 3 coming out in October, and Metal Gear Solid Rising, and that motion sensing camera thingamajig, and Crackdown 2, and last.fm, and Alan Wake...

I could have sworn it was known, I remember hearing about it a while ago.
I don't even really keep up on 360 news because I don't have a 360.

I really think MS minimized the impact of their conference with all the leaks. We knew about everything except the software showcased for Natal & maybe twitter, Sky & increased Netflix functionality.

Devs have a hard enough time figuring out waggle, let alone something new. I expect a port of Boom Blox and EA Sports Active.

I'm looking for screenshots and videos of the Microsoft conference. Any help would be appreciated.

too bad the Rape Sims are being banned in Japan lol. that is sooo bad. I apologize, but its true

That report was wrong, it was just some family org calling for a ban, not an actual law.

If that happens, then MS is definitely on the right track.

Microsoft really did a great job. Lots of great games coming soon, and new hardware.

I am impressed by the new camera.

I hate the name, but the tech is damn impressive. WiiMotionPlus needs to be as great as I hear, and they need to start Headtracking 3d too.

I already said in chat, if they let Illusion Soft make a game they're going to have a killer app at their hands.

Holy ****. Microsoft knocked that one out of the park. Natal is just the code name, like Xenon was for Xbox 360, and Dolphin for the GameCube. Anyway, the freakin' thing has voice activation too, it seems to work much better than I imagined it would have. If they announced this when Nintendo originally showed off the Wii, then I'm afraid the system sales would be pretty close to reversed. I think it's a little too late in the game to have an impact on Wii sales (with Wii Motion Plus releasing this month, and Natal not even releasing this year), but I think I'll definitely get this thing, even if the block breaking game is the only thing ever released.

It seems like you'd be extremely limited in how much depth you could have in a game with those controls; you might be able to do Wii Sports but I don't know how you'd accomplish even Mario Kart without an apparent way to control accelerator, brake, and weapon throwing. There also doesn't seem to be a way to smoothly transition people from Natal games to more traditional games that use a standard controller like the "bridge games" Nintendo has talked about.

As expected, take a previous E3, add "2" the end of a bunch of Hugebox games, and we have new press conference this year.

MS must be serious about their 15-yr plan too, huh.

It can capture your movement in 3D, so you could sit on a couch/chair, etc, and have the camera watch your feet for the imaginary gas/break pedals, or push your arms out to accelerate, and pull them back in to slow down. Keep one hand on the wheel to steer, and use the other to throw an item, in any direction. Using just your hands = extremely limited, using your entire body...not so much. Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo and the Wii, and I'd love to find some shortfalls of this thing...but they've got some absolutely amazing technology on their hands with this thing.

I think Nintendo's bridge games won't transition people to traditional controllers, just more complex games. They'd still want to have peopel follow their brand of interaction.

Of course the demo worked well on the stage, they probably made sure it had optimum conditions. There was a noticeable lag.

The problem with Natal is that the software just isn't there. Yes, a virtual boy, who wants that? Virtual puppies are fine because you keep those but don't you have children in order to reproduce instead of having to scold them for not doing their homework? Virtual puppies are great for irresponsible children but what parent would buy their child an imaginary friend? The other stuff didn't look like it'd really connect to people either. Meanwhile Motion Plus is past the tech demo stage now and will get actual game announcements.

I still want to see UFC local 2 player using Natal.
That would be the best game to sit back and watch other people play.

That's silly. How could Microsoft announce something before Nintendo even invented it?

So it's correct to assume MS has to cater to two separate audiences, with no chance of them merging via the input scheme?

That's what I'm saying. Clearly they are going after the Wii, but if they had actually thought of a new way to control games, instead of seeing Nintendo's success and trying to one-up them, then it would probably be a different story. There was lag in early Wii games too. Button presses have always been instant on the Wiimote, but aiming as off in games like Red Steel, and even a little in Twillight Princess.

When watching the trailer for The Netal, was anyone else reminded of those cheesy Wii spoofs a while back?  Like the videos of people pretending to make breakfast with their Wii.

Call me crazy, but something just doesn't sit right about pretending to change a tire with your whole body on the 360.
