Well it was a tough choice, but having just completed Cho Aniki the other day it seems right to vote for it! Everyone should give it a shot, it's a decent shoot em up, relaxing more than anything else, and the music is fucking fantastic. It's an easy game to crack jokes about but there's a good game there (my advice for newcomers is to forget the female protagonist and always use the male). Levels are repetitive, and it took me a while to get used to the beam mechanic of it firing when you let go of the fire button, but I feel the game succeeds ultimately in spite of its flaws.
There's a certain flow to it that is unusual - only having 2 lives for a given level, and all the levels are pretty long with at least one miniboss and a main one at the end mean plenty of failed attempts when the difficulty ramps up. Also what is it with all the T16 shooters having adjustable ship speed? Despite there being a number of speed levels (I think there are 4 or so), I couldn't find one that suited me, there was only too slow or too quick. On the plus side the enemies you come across are brilliantly designed, essentially they are inanimate objects given human features in a surreal mashup, and the backrounds are suitably strange too - my favourite is the cathedral exterior that must be several tens of miles long!
Anyway maybe this is the wrong thread to put these thoughts, but anyway it'd be good to hear some hopefully serious discussion about the game so I recommend voting for it and giving this game a chance! Not even gonna touch the homoerotic stuff, I'll just say that the continue screen countdown is good for a laugh.
