see, i'd consider myself a fan of facing games but my favorite racers are f-zero, the latest excite games (havent tried rally tho) and mario kart, while things like need for speed and gran turismo bore the living **** outta me.. so i guess i don't count?
No, you are in the same boat as I am. Realistic games bore me to no end, but Nintendo racers are fun as hell.

Realistic **** sucks. Seriously. :@

Speaking of which, can anyone tell me what a "sandwich" is? Do you have to smash a vehicle in between another vehicle?

I'm pretty sure it means you actually make a sandwich while you're driving your bot.
I can't tell if that was a joke response or not...

Amazingly, I also feel similarly. A racing game has to have some sort of gimmick to set it apart in order for it to interest me.

What about games like Waverace 64?  Its decently realistic but I suppose the waves make it a little gimicky.  Man, that may be my favorite racer of all time.  I think Blue Storm ruined the fun by making it a bit too realistic.

seriously! i remember my cousins LOVED need for speed on my Saturn but i didn't like it, at all. I also had daytona 500 (both games were gifts by the way) which was incredibly boring.. geez. I just didn't get it.. i know theres supposed to be that adrenaline rush with racing, but i guess it wasn't enough for me. f-zero (SNES) was pretty basic but it was still challenging in that you could DIE during a race, ya know? that sorta gimick is what kept me coming back for more, and the day i beat that game i almost **** my pants i kid you not!

wave race i actually didn't like so much.

its not. I'm sure you've seen the red bars, right? The ones you have to spin off of right before the goal? How about the yellow bars? or Elevator bars? Well they also have something similar in something i like to call the sandwhich line...

a hook comes up from the top of your bot and latches on to this bar, and it twist and turns while you go forward, but along the way ther eare peices of a sandwhich and you have to tilt your remote to shift your vehicle in the right direction in order to get as many peices of the sandwhich as you can. Bread, bologna, cheese, etc.. the more you collect, the more starts you collect (5 star max).

my favorite is the homefun bat!

I should have figured it was something more literal. I haven't seen anything like that, so I guess it must be hidden off the main track.

Wave Race 64 was technically amazing but that was about it. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, and I didn't like some of the course designs. That's my personal opinion on the game. Never played Blue Storm.

Anyone have sale figures for Trick Racing? I think Excite Trucks sold more because it had monster trucks.

Plus it was a launch title. There wasn't much to pick up then so a lot of people just went with Zelda and ExciteTrucks.

VG Chartz puts Bots at 90k.

The original hit 890k worldwide and 400k in North America by comparison.

Hopefully.

Question is, does Monster Games have any new work to do?

They've been making Nintendo's cheap throwaway games, after all.

ExciteBots is that sort of project that exists due to good-enough sales of standalone Wii Wheels.

It should be noted that the last update to the numbers was back on the 23rd of June. I'm curious what kind of sales it has seen because of specials like on Amazon and also Black Friday.

If Nintendo would start slipping videos of Miley Cyrus playing the game on TV and the Nintendo Channel I'll bet you the game will go Evergreen.

Good point about the numbers update. Either the game's sales halted to a standstill back in June or there are untracked numbers out there. I want my Christmas present to be the NPD 2009 total sales numbers to be leaked.

I'm waiting on a price drop or an Amazon gold box/lightning deal before getting it. I like the sound of the game a lot though. Remember it came out around the time I was moving and completely broke so I missed the initial release.

Wario Land: Shake It I think sold more, and that game wasn't advertised AT ALL.

Monster should just get working on an F-Zero game. Them or Amusement Vision, it doesn't really matter.

I own this game.  I got bored with it after a few hours.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

When I tried playing this game online for the first time, I gave up after a few minutes on the "Searching for match..." screen and the never-ending spinning arrow. I guess enjoyment of online games is partly dependent on how well they sell...

I'm guessing the best way to play this game with people is to find an Excitebots community and try to set up a date. When the game was first out, all 10 of us had no problem finding players, since then we've all been busy with other games :P

Since i have to get my wi online to partake in the festivities i'm hosting... I'll definately try to get a game with you Mop_it_up, and maybe maxi can join!

I'll bet we could meet up in a "with anyone" race if we both connected at the same time.

Those red bars are starting to get on my nerves. They're an unwelcome break in the action, and what's worse is that there's one on every track and no way to get around it.

The bowling pins make up for it. I pretend they're a grouping of the red bars and crash into them with fury.

Yup, I played the game for quite some time to give it a fair shake (pun intended), and those red bars drove me nuts.  They were tedious, ugly, momentum killing, and tacky.  Where was the director when this game was made?  Its like he let any old thing in.
