Is this site reliable?  Doesn't GH3 have to have the game programmed already to look for additional songs?  I wonder how they will be attempting this?

Does the Wii version have the "Message of the Day", surely they can make it tell Wii owners to download a patch from the Wii Shop or something. I don't think this is a new feature, it's probably something that can easily be unlocked in the game upon going online, since they have actually been trying to get DLC for a while.

Er, that's not news. We know Red Octane are trying to get DLC onto Wii, but whether they have the framework to support that remains to be seen.

We don't even know if the mono problem will be resolved. I wouldn't be surprised if Red Octane are just fart-arsing around until enough people have bought their game that they can turn around and say "hrhrhr time for Guitar Hero Wii2, when we'll fix these major issues"

See, I think it isn't news in and of itself.  I did figure that DLC wasn't coming if they hadn't already said something.  So, I'm surprised they may well still be trying to do it.

What is more interesting is the following question: If publishers begin to do DLC on the Wii will it force Nintendo's hand in allowing memory expansion?  On the converse end of that question, will publishers demand memory expansion from Nintendo and motivate their pursuits with "DLC = money?"

Oh, and there's no way in hell that they will offer a patch to fix mono issues.  How does something like that not get caught in testing?  It doesn't speak well of the GHIII (Wii) project.

Regardless, it doesn't bode particularly well for GHWiii.  That's an enormous bug-testing oversight.

Lets all turn our Wii's back to mono and then GH3 won't seem so bad!

I refuse to pay £60/$120 for this game

You know Activision made bad decisions on who they used to port the game.  That was their biggest mistake, or they just didn't have the two teams collaborating together/on the same page.

The truth is though, Activision could have ignored this entire mono problem.  Most people wouldn't have cared or even known there was a problem.  But, you have to them props for spending the money to correct the problem...and it gives them a chance to correct other problems.

They know Wii owners still want to be able to download songs for GH3.  Why not work on allowing extra content to be read of the SD card directly, allowing for a Gig of extra memory for songs.  It should be easy to do.  Or how about putting that 2 Player Quick Play option back into the game?

And when you say Activision won't spend the time to do this extra steps?  Why not.  It will cost more to implement, but also provides the opportunity for making more money with download purchases.  It just may mean they will recoup all their loses for the replacements.

It's a minor annoyance, but I could see how it could really be an issue for someone having to deal with audio from only the TV speakers. My Wii is connected to my HTR, and any time I play GH3 I manually switch the audio to "5 Channel" to force it play via my surrounds. It's sounds just fine, but I will be taking advantage of the replacement program once it is initiated early next year.

I don't think Activision can be sued because of this - since they're offering free replacements. There is a groupd of people, however, that are building a class action lawsuit against Microsoft/Bungie because Halo 3 isn't a truly high-definition game (640p they call it).

Well if you're throwing down that kind of money for the system with the game and all they tout is HD generation gaming, anything less than that IMO would be a ripoff.  Noone bought a 360 or PS3 to see black bars, that's what I would expect from the Wii to increase performance not those two.

There aren't any black bars - the system upscales the game to 720p/1080i/p no matter what, but it's not a "real" HD game. COD4 runs in an odd resolution as well, but no one is suing over that one, because it's a freakin' visual masterpiece.
