Beam sword is certainly different. I wonder how that's going to work as it looks pretty cheap now. And I don't remember seeing that clock/stopwatch before.......

I think the watch is from Super Mario Bros. 2. When you get it either the timer stops so that the match lasts longer or everything stops, including the fighters and the stage.

There was a watch in the American Super Mario Bros. 2 that did that, and there was also a watch in the original Legend of Zelda that did the exact same thing.
Insanolord is a terrible moderator.

There have always been different stances for the home run bat, not sure what's up with the "This time" stuff

Edit: Looks like they didn't use the Super Mario World fire flower... bummer

I meant, I didn't remember seeing the clock/stopwatch in Smash before. I just found it odd that they'd show a new item in an update about old items. But yes, I'd imagine that the new item stops on-screen action for a few seconds allowing the user to get a few good hits in. Imagine getting the clock/stopwatch then breaking the Smash Ball immediately afterwards.

Nah, I just like the bolder coor scheme. They're really pretty similar though.

Well, Gray Fox being in definitely ads credence to those reports of Tails as an assist trophy.

Yes this update to me is like just below Megaton.

It means we may be seeing more of the 3rd party universe characters which will be awesome.  Dr. Eggman as a boss perhaps?

But the best-est  thing about this update is when Mega Man is revealed and you have Rush as an Assist Trophy...

Or how about Call dropping a random Mega Man Robot power change onto the field for Mega Man's Down Special.  I love this update.

Rush makes more sense as a possible Up+B or Over+B move...

And I hope they limit the amount of 3rd party stuff in the game, because they ARE guest characters after all...

They are guests but just limiting it to a few guest characters would be not enough representation. But, I do agree with you that there should be a limit to the amount of 3rd party characters, it's just that it could be higher than the 3-4 guest characters people expect.  I am looking forward to the guest characters that really had many games on Nintendo systems over the years such as Mega Man and others.

I wonder if there will be 3rd-party assist trophies from outside the universes represented by playable characters. That is to say, there are tons of Konami characters from outside the MGS series and Sega characters from outside the Sonic series that could all make pretty interesting Assist Trophies. I suppose we'll see.

Great. They should make it so that when Gray Fox appears on the MGS stage the Metal Gear appears and he starts to battle it, then Snake gets all confused and enters a big personal conflict with himself.

Title is misleading.

We have a ninja character, and we have sword characters, but we have no sword ninja character.

And dammit, I want one.

Sakurai is a jerk for reminding me of this.
