I've been meaning to bump this with a new post for a while now, but a google search was fruitless. I had to hunt this down the old fashion way, and since I did my rounds in the forum extra early today, figured now is the best time to do this.

^Weezer 8-bit tribute album!
I read about this a few months back on gonintendo but didn't get around to downloading this album until just a few weeks before the Weezer/Blink182 show I attended. I'm a sucker for chiptune style music, and not having listened to Weezer in some time, I was very excited to hear this album and frankly it didn't dissapoint!
All the tracks are remixed by various artist, and while the majority of the tracks are enjoyable, I find myself doing what I always do when it comes to Weezer; Listen to the Blue albums material almost exclusively. Then again, "Why Bother" has a really good version of it so that gets a lot of plays as well. It's pretty much a straight up cover that stays true to the original, with some 8-bit noises in the background (mainly heard in the intro).
Definately recommended for fans of Weezer, but it might be worth it to check out if you just like chiptunes in general
FYI: The version of Buddy Holly on here is completely isntrumental, and sounds a bit like a techno/industrial remix of the Tetris theme, but maybe thats just me. It's really good though!

This album came out in Aug. '08 and somehow its taken me this long to add it to this thread. When the album first came out, it was so different for what the band has done prior (their previous album before this was different too but this is new one is something else entirely) that it took a long time to get in to. Over time though, it's grown on me and I feel confident saying this will be one of my all time favorite albums.
Starting off as an indie guitar-rock band from the UK, Bloc Party have grown significantly from and their roots. Ironically though, their sound now is more in line with the seeds that grew those roots, with songs that sound like their influences would in modern day. (Influences range from the The Cure to Joy Division to The Clash to Radiohead)
Some tracks are still heavy on the guitar riffs (with some of the heaviest sounds theyve produced) while others are big on the electric side of things, from drums to synth. You've got your loud, energetic tracks, to dancey sounding ones, as well as your slow and deep ones. This album is good from start to finish, and thats that.
Favorite tracks:
Mercury, Talons, Biko, and the most epic song on the album; Zephyrus. Definately check 'em out.
