So this is one of Factor 5s games revealed. Im kinda dissapointed its Rogue Leader, I bought the first one but never went past mission 5 or 6. Its too difficult IMO and not so much my game, I think Ill like Starfox Armada better.

I really hope their other game atleast incorporates the promised elements of Thornado, because that must most likely mean that its an action/adventure just like Thornado.

I would be dissappointed if this was the only thing they were working on, but since it sounds like they have more than one project going on I more excited now. I loved the first two Rogue Squadrons, but I can only imagine what else that can be done without having to really dig into the Star Wars expansion universe. Plus, I think Factor 5 has shown way too much talent to be hamstringed to LucasArts or any other movie licenses. I feel the same way about Retro right now with MP2--I much rather have them working on something we have never seen as oppossed to a Metroid sequel I feel won't have the same impact of the first MP because it's being released so soon after the first (unless Retro and Nintendo can truly make the game a revolutionary title, a hard thing to do within the industry these days, espcially with a well established franchise).

i would like if you could play the levels with the 2 different forces- light side and dark side
you must beat the game first with the light side, then you could go back through all those levels again as the empire
the ships will all be different as will the mission objectives
that would be good

I think it would be awesome to have it multiplayer, like the PC games X-Wing and Tie-Fighter, or an online mode would be good.  But regarding story, I think it would be a pretty  awesome idea to do the story based on the latest book series.  I think Jaina Solo is one of the members of Rogue Squadron, and there is a new enemy invading the galaxy, the Yuuzhan Vong (not sure about the spelling).  The cool thing about them is that they aren't a part of the Force, meaning they are impervious to some of the tactics used by the force.  Also, everything they use are LIVING CREATURES!  And in the books, many new species are involved in the fights, from all different planets.  This would lead to all different types of spaceships, including the living ones, to be used and to fight against in the game.  This would make it a lot more interesting, and to have more of a story.

I remember reading on IGN a while ago that Factor 5 was working on another big project that may or may not have to do with Star Wars.  Another basic sequel to Rogue Squadron doesn't really seem like that BIG of a project.  Rogue Squadron II only took a year to complete, so obviously just another sequel wouldn't be that hard to produce.

I'm just speculating here, but if this is the big project IGN was referring to, I think there will some feature in the title that is drastically different from the other Rogue Squadron (:::cough::: online capabilities :::cough::.  I seriously doubt Factor 5 would release just some rehash of the same game on the same console.

Can anyone else confirm hearing about a big Factor 5 project?

Chasefox: I would love a storyline based on the New Jedi Order Series. O_O I've read every book in the series save Edge of Victory II and own every book in the series save for Edge of Victory II and Destiny's Way. AMAZING storyline, not to mention very ambitious, the series stretching across 19 novels before it's over. Playing as Jaina Solo or maybe Corran Horn fighting coral skippers, etc, would be an amazing experience.

ThePerm: More than I could explain here and now. Most of it has been told in the expanded universe novels, of which there are very many. The New Jedi Order takes place 25 years after A New Hope, I believe.

I'd love to see Imperial missions, maybe even base the whole game on it.  And I'd like huge battles, like Battle of Endor on crack, and you can pre-plan your own attack plan before the mission begins.

If people don't plan on buying RS3, then create anticipation by making the original Rogue Squadron available as a bonus disc at pre-order!
Although the game was a tad frustrating at times, it would get people to buy it no doubt!

I'd Have to say that one of the best things they could do to the series is definitely add an online tie vs X-wing mode. Sure it'd be had, but in the end it would end up being the best thing they could make it and the most fun too

Because Factor 5 made the first two games?

But anyways, Factor 5 always likes to take advantage of every bit of hardware on a machine  (hell they even said as much in an interview.).  I think it's fairly safe to say that there should be some online factors in the game.

Yeah, RS3 needs to offer more freedom, instead of giving you so many time limits.  Not that I hate time limits the first time around...it's just that the game lacks a lot of replay value by limiting your ability to screw around with the game.   I know it's out of Factor 5's reach, but wouldn't it be cool to have a GTA style Rogue Leader?  I'm not talking about killing old women or selling drugs from an ice-cream van... but the ability to switch vehicles would rock (a lot of variety not limited to two ships).   And it would be cool to order and set formations before battles as you move up the ranks, but this stuff would complicate the game too much.   At the very least, they could make it so after you get a gold on a stage, you can remove the time limits and cruise the stage at your own pace, taking out every enemy ship if you want.

Two things that definitely need to be in the game:

1.  Better control.  Quick button combos to do a quick 180 or a loop to swing behind a pursuer.  Much like Starfox 64.

2. Multiplayer and on-line play.  With on-line play and a lot of tweaking, which would never be done, RS 3 could be the Star Wars version of Battlefield 1942, which would rock.   At the very least, a decent four-player game with multiple game types would make it an easy pick up for a lot of people.

Most of what I'd like to see just isn't possible, but I can dream.
After slaughtering millions of aliens, imps, orcs, Nazis, pushers, pimps,  and zombies, Johnny planted an apple tree and it was good.

The Rogue Squadron games have always been a favorite console series of mine and I can't wait for the next installment in the series.  I would love to see more original missions for the game though.  I also would like to see a multiplayer mode, maybe co-op.  Better yet, LAN capable or online capabilities.  You can be each of the squadron members and get a 16 player squadron deathmatch online.  Hopefully Factor 5 will look into this.  It would make a great game greater.
Professional soldiers are predictable, but the world is full of amateurs.

It says so in the Gamers.com story that I already posted a link to near the beginning of this thread, but I'll link to it again for you here.  There is also a link to the story on PGC's home page.

Rogue Squadron is a great series. I am definitely looking forward to the third installment. A speeder bike stage on Endor would be awesome, but I would really like to see a game similar to Shadows Of The Empire (or how about SOTE 2), which combined elements of different game types.

you seem to have forgotten how SOTE turned out. An average game at best. Also note that RS was derivated from SOTE, more specificly the fly levels. So I seriously think that they would not go back to that type of game.
