Bloodworth Inc. has made a list of the top consoles of all time (excluding current-gen apparently.)

I think they had the correct consoles listed (although my personal favorites would be different), but the order was messed up in a couple of places. Here is the list:

Playstation as number one? Please. It makes the list, but no way as the best. NES should first without question.

I thought their list was actually really great... except the PS1 at the top spot. NES, SNES or PS2 I feel would have been better choices.

10. Gameboy Advance
9. Genesis
8. Dreamcast
7. Playstation
6. Nintendo 64
5. Gameboy
4. Atari 2600
3. Playstation 2

1. NES

I agree, the NES should have been number one since...

- It saved an entire industry
- It was the home to some of the most influential games ever
- It was one of the first consoles to become a brand name in pop culture
- The games are still sought out today
- It created a major gaming empire

The PSX was popular, yes, but NOT worthy of being number one.

Although I'm pretty sure Bloodworth himself didn't have anything to do with this list... maybe he'll hop in this thread?

Well that's not a bad top ten as I don't see any systems in there that shouldn't be. They even excluded the Xbox.

I wouldn't pick the Playstation as number 1 but I don't think it's a bad pick. Like most things in life videogaming has generation gaps. Those who played games in the 2D era are more likely to pick the NES or SNES as their clear number one. But the Playstation brought in a huge amount of new customers and they're going to be more fond of their first console. I'm sure some old timers are probably pissed off that the Atari 2600 only got 9th. I meanwhile wouldn't even think of it when doing a top ten because I was in diapers at the time and thus don't have much of a connection with the pre-crash era.

The way the Wii is selling ten years from now it will probably top such a list and all the previous generations of gamers will be all pissed off that "their" console didn't beat it.

I personally would have SNES as a clear number one and would have shuffled the GBA down quite a few spots, probably to 10.

I agree that the NES should be first.

By the time the DS is said and done, it will be very high up there.

But yeah, PSOne being #1 is pure bs. Period.

Seriously guys, the order may be debatable, but there are no BAD consoles on that list... and the top four are all REALLY close, and really belong in that area.

I agree with Ian, I definitely would put the SNES at number 1. It was one of the first systems I had. The original GameBoy would also be up there as it would be the first system that I actually owned. The more I think about it, the more I realize that systems that I owned (Dreamcast, GameBoy) would be higher than systems that my brother had (Genesis, Playstation) which would be higher up than ones that I never played because of the generation gap or rarely played because I played a friend's. I wouldn't be at all inclined to put the DS on it, and putting the Wii on it would just be absurd. That being said, my list would be only 7:

The top 4 are good. Although I feel like the PS2 was better than the PS1. Either way, the list isn't bad if you remove the numbers and take it for a list of 10 consoles that don't suck. EXCEPT for the atari, as my dad had one, and i played it, and I wasn't a fan. At least the Xbox didn't make the list, like when EGM made their list and placed it above the dreamcast N64 and Gameboy and one other system, it might have even been the genesis. Thats just a crime. I love the Neo-Geo and Saturn , but I'll never put it on list, becuase there weren't enough classics on the system. The Xbox is no different, Shooters get replaced by new shooters and their sequels, so do sport games. When you subtract all those games, I feel like the original xbox has some pretty good games, but not many, I can name like 7 games that i can replay and fully re-enjoy becuase they were great, no more. With the SNES, the number draws much closer to 30 or even 40.
