Settling with Immersion doesn't necessarily mean Sony will release a new rumble enabled Sixaxis. I believe Immersion wanted Sony to stop manufacturing controllers that infringed on their their patented technology. Sony was able to suspend that order pending appeals. So they finally gave in. What did everyone expect them to do? They still make $$$ on PS2 and you can't sell one without a controller. It probably would have cost more money to redesign the Dual Shock 2 without rumble than just settle with Immersion.
I don't think this really affects PS3 at all. Sony will likely stick to their guns and keep Sixaxis rumble free. Imagine how much money that would cost to not only commision Immersion to create a tilt and rumble capable controller, but to pay up for the license as well. Rumble is nice and all, but I don't think it's really worth the trouble for Sony to implement it into their controllers now.
As for the Mii/Achievement copying, it's not exactly the same and it doesn't change the fact that you still have to pony up $600. Seems like a fun feature, but it still doesn't justify anything, price and otherwise. You can get mad about Sony's lack of originality or you can sip some lemonade, make a Mii or two, and be content that you spent considerably less while having just as much fun (or possibly more).
