Came accross this...probably mostly BS, but fun to think about.

Wii Space World

Some highlights.

Nintendo will reveal prices and launch date. A $299 bundle that comes with two Wiimotes, nunchuku attachment, classic game pad attachment, DVD9 attachment, wireless headset (limited) 2GB SD card, Wii sports game, plus ten free virtual console downloads. The $199 bundle to come with one Wiimote, nunchuku attachment, classic game pad attachment, Wii Sports game, &five free virtual console downloads. Launch date will be set at Nov. 10 2006 is revolution day.

Just some things to ponder, don't flame for for posting it, I didn't come up with it, just found and wanted to share. click the link to check it all out.

a headset wont happen. Iwata thinks is too complex. Also I dont see Nintendo releasing 2 different packs, it confuses consumers, specially the non gamer crowd.

So the $100 difference includes:
1 more Wiimote (would this have a second nunchaku attachment as well?)
DVD-enabling dongle
wireless headset
2 GB SD card
5 more Virtual Console downloads

Considering that a 2 GB SD card is probably about that much alone (I paid a little more than half as much in Canadian dollars for a 1 GB SD card last month), I'd say the bigger bundle is a good deal, assuming these will really be the case.

Though I kind of think they should take out the SD card and make $149.99/$199.99 (if possible) or $199.99/$249.99 bundles instead.

Ok I could SWEAR that they said it will play DVDs out of the box.

But every forum I go to continues speak of the dongle.

I thought the official word was that they said dongle originally, but a few months later retracted it, and said it would be capable OOB.
I must find a way to use "burninate" more in my daily speech.

Newegg.com has 12 2GB SD cards for less than US$50... some for less than $40.  But considering that the Wii has 512MB built in, and that a large majority of people won't use that up, it would be stupid to include it in a bundle.

I don't believe a word of that. There were FAR too many AO rated games. Yes, 2 is too many, especially comming from Nintendo.

Now that I read it, three AO games is a bit much.

Aside from the I-thought-it-was-cancelled Kill Thrill or Thrill Kill or whatever it was/is called, I thought the only AO game was GTA: San Andreas, but only because of that whol Hot Coffee thing...which otherwise would've been M.

I guess there are AO computer games like Singles or whatever, but console AO games are so rare, three all at once for a Nintendo console?  Yeah, right.

C'mon, everyone knows that revolution day is the 5th of November, not the 10th ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes_Night ).

Sorry, had to be said.

I agree that a bundle from Nintendo including an SD card would not make sense. They might as well include a letter with every Wii saying "We messed up. The Wii actually does not have enough flash memory in it." (Not that I think the 512MB is a problem, but that is what pushing SD cards would say.)

Why would there be a headset if the controller already has a speaker and a mic in it?

Nah, 2GB SD cards are getting dirt cheap now, you can even find them at CompUSA or the like for around $45 if you're lucky.

Has nobody learned anything from the past year or so about 'insiders'?  These 'insiders' have proven time and time again that they are full of BS.  Anything they have gotten right was basically common sense knowledge.

This insider is basically taking previous insider information - Mature Kid Icarus for instance - and adding in some of his own garbage.

Its best that people just ignore this garbage for their own good.

Seriously, this is obviously just someone making stuff up.  Hasn't Nintendo said they have no intention of creating these silly tiers that Sony and MS are making?  Haven't they also said that it won't cost more than 250?

Silly silly silly.

I'd buy the $299 version in a second compared to the $200 version.

two Wiimotes w/nunchuku attachments.  #Extra Wii controllers are going to cost atleast $30, so sounds like a good deal.

classic gamepad.  #One less then thing i'd have to buy, will cost probably $15-20 if bought by itself.

DVD9 attachment. #I'd buy it to replace my PS2 I use to play DVDs at the moment, so if it came in a bundle that would be nice but I think this piece brings the hole post to it's knees. I doubt Nintendo will have DVD movie playback built in or bundle it with their console because you have to pay at minimum a flat fee or a % of the total cost of the hardware, whichever is more for the license to have DVD playback. If they sell it as a separate add-on they only pay the fee based on the price of the add-on not the price of the Wii and the add-on. You all might think this is trivial but it's the little things that can drive the price from being a little bit of profit per console sold to a lose on each. If I remember correctly the price for DVD playback license at the moment is $10 or 20% but don't quote me on that. With a part of the money going to Sony.

wireless headset. #If this is a blue tooth headset i'll pass, the audio quality stinks on all blue tooth headsets i've tried. This is one place wired is better then wireless.

2GB SD card. # This goes up with the controllers, just one less thing I'd have to buy.

Wii sports game. # This would be a smart move by nintendo, showcase the console with easy games anybody can play. It's not a game i'd buy seperty but if it came free, who am I to complain.

ten free VC downloads. #This is crack. Give a free taste and people will keep coming back for more.

It pretty much an assured thing that something like this will be offered by a retailer like Gamestop so the can maximize the amount of money they get from the customers.

First off haven't read the article yet.  But the SNES had it's more than fair share of AO games over in Japan.  They rarely make it to the states.  So I wouldn't be too weirded out by AO games.

I didn't realize that 2 gb SD cards had gotten so cheap.

I'm personally hoping that Nintendo doesn't make me have a second drive but instead a software upgrade or an unlock key.  As mentioned before $10 a pop or ,if they sell the system for $250, $50 a console adds up really quick.  I be fine with paying an extra $20 for the firmware upgrade or what have you.  Most of us don't need another DVD player and I don't want to have to pay an extra 50 bucks for something I don't want or need when I could be getting better hardware or that money going to develope a game I'll probably enjoy.

I just saw this link on another forum, basically someone details what *supposedly* is in the next Game Informer magazine
Quote

Source
This article from the upcoming Game Informer magazine focuses on the pros and cons of the development environment of the upcoming Nintendo Wii. As well as revealing the last big secret concerning hardware functionality. Here are some summarizations from that article.

-Pros-

-Inexpensive graphics development.

-Developer-friendly “camera” program

-Will support HDR lighting, normal maps, bump-mapping, nurbs rendering, and panoramically-composted depth-composited cubemappng, ray-tracing.

-Chipsets are very inexpensive although EXTREMELY powerful, WILL incorporate many aspects of the Project Reality study.

-Nintendo is providing extensive documentation to ease the incorporation of the Wii-mote.

-Cons-

-Challenging to program effectively for the Wii-mote, due to it being very new to the industry.

-Marketing to be more challenging for bigger third-party franchises due to nature of the innovative qualities.

-The development cycle to possibly equal the time cycles of PS3 and Xbox360 due to the time needed to be innovative and effectively program for the controller.

-The challenge of marketing the Wii’s controller in ads and commercial may turn third-parties away from exclusivity. (The challenge to display through ads how “playing is believing”)

-The Final Secret/minor surprises also-

-Wii will include a built-in decent resolution camera that can be used to add your face to character models and add innovation to games. These snapshots can be tweaked as well. It is still being decided whether to allow camera to record and stream video. Mention made to have this feature be a strong feature in online play.

-A wireless headset will be made available at launch.

-SD cards will range from 2GB to 7GB and will be priced “within reason”.

-A new router technology is still in development and not yet available to developers. In the final product Nintendo hopes to be able to make every Wii a sort of “Wi-Fi hotspot” with each user connecting to that user and so on. They also want to be able to allow different users to share things and are thinking about setting up a pseudo-P2P network through Connect24, where users can share content and “other things”. This means that even if you have a dial-up connection or no internet, you can still connect to Wii Connect24.

-The Wii will indeed have a PPU included in final hardware. It will have only 32MB though, which will still take a considerable amount of pressure off of other chips.

-A still-in-development simple dev tool will be made available to users through the Connect24 network. It will allow users to create a simple game in 2D or simple 3D and share it with the world. This will hopefully be available on the network by launch.

-The last big secret is the “graphics solution”. It revolves around a whole lot of non-volatile RAM (opting out of HDD support, RAM is much faster than a HDD). And a development interface that centers on a AI-controlled command-line interface. This additional tech only included in final dev kits, while most developers don’t have access to final dev kits.
I'm not sure when the next GI comes out, but when it does then we'll know if this is all complete BS or not

Oh Projeeect Reality~ I remember reading huge in-depth things about that back in 1994 when Ultra 64 was supposed to launch. They showed a graphical demo of a huge 3D city populated with Nintendo characters. It was awesome.

Also this post really has nothing to do with anything.

"The venture known as Project Reality, will create Nintendo's next generation gaming system and combine three-dimensional graphics of the quality seen in films such as Jurassic Park and Terminator 2, with high- fidelity sound and an interaction speed around 10-15 times faster than the current 16-bit games."
