Picked up my DS Lite at 1:45AM at the local Walmart. Could not be happier with it. I will have to agree with Pale on the whole button argument. Thus far I can not find a single thing that is better on the original DS. Thank you Nintendo for the sexiest piece of hardware you have ever created.

I got mine, I love it, it's charging on my bed right now, screens are great, buttons are great, the design is great, blah blah blah.

Anyways, does anyone else find the touch screen to be a marked improvement over the regular DS'? It's a bit stickier and it seems like it's much more durable. I think that's my favorite improvement.

I got mine too... For everyone equated the the brightest setting to death, I expected brighter... I'm actually enjoying playing on the brightest setting.

Yeah, I wasn't blown away when I tested it in my car right after buying it (very high ambient light).  I don't use the brightest setting inside, though.

I hope future DS games have color mode settings.  The ultra-saturated colors throw off the color palette in some games.   The lava in NSMB looks rad, but the coins are neon yellow. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance has a few color modes, and they help somewhat.  The screen doesn't refresh as fast, so movement is blurred some.

The curved underside of the original is more comfortable than the more boxy underside of the Lite.

The Start and Select buttons are very small and take quite a bit of pressure to press.   (BAD)

The Touch screen has the grid of dots like some of the original DS systems, but is less mushy. (GOOD)

I got mine today at Circuit City.  The computer wouldn't ring it up, the info had to be typed in manually.  I got Brain Age for free, though.

Yesterday, I picked up a DS Lite and Big Brain Academy at Gamestop.

It seems like my system has a couple of dead pixels on it though. Ironically, I guess the main reason I can tell is because the screens are so bright and beautiful. I never realized but my old DS also has these little pixels but because the screen isn't nearly as bright I never noticed and it didn't affect gameplay. Sadly, since the DS Lite's screens are so bright it makes the bad pixels so much more obvious.

How common is this? I think there's probably one or two bad pixels on my DS Lite. The bad pixels don't have any real color. I'm not sure if I should try and return my system or just deal with it. If this is common, then I may get another one that's even worse.

Of all of you guys out there that have picked up a new DS Lite, how many have you experienced one or two little bad pixels on your system?  I wanna know how common this is.  Would I even be able to return the system to the store, or would I have to ship it to Nintendo of America?

Although if I did return it ... I may be able to take advantage of the Best Buy / Circuit City deal to get a free copy of Brain Age.  This isn't a huge priority though.

I have one stuck subpixel near the edge of the top screen.
Against a black or dark backgorund, there is a faint green dot.  I didn't notice it until I put in Metroid Prime: Hunters, which has a black title screen.

I have a friend who has a dead pixel.  I flipped mine on yesterday before I got out of the store's parking lot just to make sure.  I love it.  I never had a DS, so I don't have anything to directly compare it to.

BTW, is it just me or does EBGames go out of its way to alienate customers?   I went there to buy one and they wouldn't honor the BB/CC free Brain Age deal.  I want to buy from the little guy, but I wanted this game.  $20 is $20.  Also, they had Mario Kart but had lost the box and wouldn't sell it to me.  I have credit I can't use.  :-(   Grrrrr.  Ok, I'm done bashing EB for today.

Yeah, he did, and I see his point of view.  He's prolly referring to the likes of Wally World, Target, Circut City, and Best Buys as the big guys, and sees the GC's, EB's, and GS' as mom and pop stores, I reckon.

I have a quick question for anyone out there. Has anyone experienced having a constant red or blue pixel on the touch screen of their DS Lite or original DS? If so, do you know if there is any way to get rid of it, will it just go away, or should I replace the system? Any help would be appreciated.

that's a stuck pixel, which is like a dead pixel but is permanetly on instead of off.....

so, you'll have to get it replaced....

It is a manufacturer's coupon. Nintendo of America is reimbursing Circuit City and Best Buy.

Yeah, Im pretty pissed.  I went and purchased a DS lite with new mario bros, only to see the next day that if I would have had a coupon I could have gotten a brain age game too.  Drats.

Maybe I am the only one, but I go out of my way to avoid EB and GS. I don't know how anyone can call them the little guys.

Their business is run on buying back games for peanuts then selling them at near full price and they have a stranglehold on this market(Even Ebay sellers consult the used game prices of GS and EB when selling an item). I rarely ever step into one where the clerks know a single thing about games and wind up selling customers wrong products. I can't tell you how many times I have seen people (uninformed parents mostly) buy games that completely suck at the suggestion of a clerk simply because the clerk is trying to move stagnant merchandise.

EB and GS are not little, they generate the majority of business in game sales and if there was a bit more competition in the Used Game market perhaps we would have more reasonable used game prices and sell back prices.

Mr. Jack, you are not the only one.

To Kairon: there is no little guy anymore unless you have a nice locally owned shop in your area.  If that's the case, you won't get any of the games on launch day, but shop there to support the little guy.

Glad I'm not the only one who won't support them Pale. By the way you ever shop at the Game Craze stores out here? Sometimes they have some good deals on newer games and they are great for picking up older games. I'm glad there is alternative out here in Rochester, NY, hopefully the rest of you guys have someplace local to grab some better deals.

Thanks, Athrun Zala. It's not really that annoying, and I don't feel like waiting ANOTHER six to eight weeks to play my DS Lite, so I'll just deal with it untill I get a black DS Lite whenever I can do that.

There's a way to fix a stuck pixel if you have a GBA ROM cart.  I remember there's a thread floating around here somewhere started by Smash_Brother that deals with the issue.  I looked, but can't find it.

You might also want to try a Google search.
