There is ONE thing I'd change about the DSL. I'd make those white rims between the two halves a colour, i.e. blue, so it looks even more the the Rev!
Awesome idea!

Argh, now if the DSL comes in black Nintendo will have their hands even deeper into my pockets. Bastards.

Agreed.

Is there something funky going on with the lighting/angle, or is the DS Lite's screen really that much brighter than the regular DS'?  I'm assuming it has to be the angle the picture was taken at.

The DSL has 4 light settings to choose from, maybe the DSL is at the max setting, while the DS max setting might be (in comparison) the 2nd lowest seeting for a DSL.

It is.

If you want to see what the new DS screen will look like, go to any store and look at the GBA SP "bright" model. The color saturates so well that you'll have a harder time seeing the pixels in the game at all.

Is it the new SP screen? or the Micro's screen? I bought one of the new SPs and I feel it oversaturates, actually. The Micro's screen gets it right though. I hope the DS Lite has Micro type screens vs new SP type screens.

The Micro IMO could've used a little more saturation to me.  It was good but in all essence it's about the same as a current DS model except for the brightness adjustment.(not launch model, screens have improved a bit since then)

It's hard to say, as I didn't see the micro.

However, since the DS Lite has 4 brightness settings, I'd wager that one of them will be an improvement without over saturating.

wow...  that looks really great and all...

But what I'm really hoping for is that a bunch of people richer than me start dumping their old DSes when those come out and I can pick up a used original model on the cheap for multiplayer (like I did when the GBA SP came out).

Not only is the brightness and color better...but look at the viewing angle here!  The viewing angle was one thing that bugs me about the original DS and it appears to be fixed.  If you look at some of the pictures you can also see the buttons have a little more depth to them which I'm betting will feel better when playing games.  I've heard the Dpad is still a little "clicky" though so I may still be suffering some extreme cramping while playing Mario Kart

That photo....is incredible. No glare, wide viewing angle, perfectly even lighting...how did they do it?

Are you forgetting this is Nintendo we're talking about? They know black will be insanely popular. Therefore, they won't release the DS Lite in black until at least 6 months after launch.

Has it been mentioned that there is no Nintendo logo on the DS Lite? I've decided not to purchase this now.

I'm sure the logo's on the back.  Ease your sarcasm, young tadwon.

I dunno I really am a fan of the white one I don't care for the navy. . . . Black would be cool but Nintendo never really goes with black they always go with some charcoalish color, not black black.

Navy all the way, for me. I'd actually prefer a dark blue to straight up black.

In any case, the picture is taken from the right side, meaning that there is definitely an improvement when it comes to viewing a DS from a different angle, which in turn means that you no longer need to violate someone's personal space bubble when you want to show them something on the DS.

Well, the last thing I want is someone mistaking my DS for a PSP so I would probably go with white.

I may need to trade my current DS in for a DSL...

Apparantly on Spike Reggie also said that the DSL would replace the DS in North America, unlike in Japan where they'll both come out together. This means it will cost no more than the current DS.

That fits my theory then that NOA is going to wait until the Japanese buy a ton of DS Lites to drive the cost down before releasing here.
