The article mentioned a laser pointer, was this to actually interface with the PS, or just as a guide to see where you are pointing.  Either way it is retarded, if the laser is to control it, then it wouldnt be practical if you wanted to rest it in your lap while you play or something (still using the motion sensor).  If the laser is used only as a guide for the player, it would be pointless because a sight can easily be programmed onto the screen to serve the same purpose.

At least it has the left analog in the right place. That makes it better than the Dualshock 2 already.

Google Image Search is great.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I think Nintendo's big advantage for now in this issue is that the technology used is a total mistery. Although this controller is trying to copy the Rev functionality, it has been reported that it simply doesnt yield good results, while all the hands on impression of the revmote have nothing but praises about its accuracy. Nintendo managed to find a good solution for a reasonable price for 3D motion sensing, and sony or any other company that want to steal the idea need to go under several years of R&D as Nintendo did if they want to get their controller first in the market over Nintendo, which of course is imposible. Now once the revmote is out there then its another story, companies will dissect it and eventually figure out its secrets.

archioverload wins the thread!

Mantidor: I kind of agree that there will eventually be a quality Rev controller knock-off for the other consoles, but it won't be as simple as reverse-engineering the Rev controller since Nintendo no doubt has patents on the design.  Case in point, Sony has had legal problems with Dual Shock because they copied the design for the force feedback.
That's my opinion, not yours.

oh I forgot about the patents, thats another obstacle, but expect people to work around the patents eventually, but certainly not in the next two or three years.

Which is long enough....

Even if it comes to market, companies won't support the damn thing because only a few people have it. It's like the whole HDD situation except far worse.

Anyone think the Dual Shock patent battle has an effect on the "absence" of the finalized PS3 controller ?

I lol'd hard when I saw that controller. Imagine of Sony actually went with something like this.... The sad thing is a few years down the road, we'd have these n00bs saying how Sony was the first to come up with this new "revolutionary" controller.
