impressive indeed, 3 titles selling over 3.25 million units, Pokemon (combined) for 2.05 million, and FFIII for 780,000. That's over 6 million copies for Nintendo in the top 10. The competition from Sony (combined) doesn't even add up to .75 million games sold (748k and change). If i've done my math right that is an 8:1 prefrence for Nintendo in the top 10.

Ouch looks like the gap is widening by quite a bit between DS and PSP similar to what started to happen in Japan when DS started to pull away.

i think FFIII will do better over here. Japan already played it, there are people here who don't know what a ROM is and would like to play the game. The english ROM stopped working for me after the fifth battle I encountered, so I will definitely be picking this up.

So far 360 sales are pretty Fawful considering it's the only next-gen home console.  If sales don't take off this Christmas, Microsoft's lead could evaporate pretty quickly.  That said, kudos to Microsoft for trying to make a profit, and certainly 360 will have by far the largest game lineup well into 2007 which should help it.

Go DS!  It'll be fun to see if it can continue to outsell PSP in spite of the GTA launch.

Edit: for reference, according to the August numbers (which had total sales this year) plus these ones, New SMB sales are at: 1,342,000 so far.
That's my opinion, not yours.

On the sales of Super Mario Bros...this is why I defy anyone who says people won't pay $5 for NES games on the Virtual Console.

That top 100 was really interesting, BlknMild, thanks!  I liked seeing where less-popular games like Megaman ZX fell in.

Yeah, I was especially amazed at the performance of Mushi King 2, considering how well the GBA one did. So much for this being Sega's "Pokémon"...

You're going to be surprised by the next sales chart from Japan. Apparently MS sold over 10,000 (pre orders) systems due to the Blue Dragon bundle.

Edit - actually, now that I think about it, you won't be surprised, because I just told you. Try to act surprised anyway, it'll be fun.

Not only the 10,000 preorders of the Blue Dragon bundle, but the are also rapidly going through the 90,000 other systems that have been sitting on the shelves since launch too. Blue Dragon is just the game that the Japanese have been waiting for and since the PS3 is only going to have about 100,000 systems in Nov., the 360 could really help seal Sony's fate in Japan if the sales trend keeps up during and after the release of  Blue Bragon.

We all know that the DS is unstoppable and we also know that the Wii will sellout at launch. If the 360 picks up steam, will there literally be room left for sony and their >Xbox sized PS3 in Japanese homes?
