DS - 2,171,902
PSP - 1,230,128

Difference - 941,774 in favour of DS.
I'm assuming those are Japanese numbers, only, right?

Anyone know about how many have been sold worldwide?  PGC said it was three million on 4/26.  The following day, GameSpot says the total number sold is five million.  Who's right?

Yes - those are only Japan numbers (pretty damn impressive considering the fact that the PSP was released pretty close.

And Gamespot is right - the total is more than 5 million now (I don't know exactly what it is). The North American lead is even more because of the gap between releases.

I think Nintendo reissued the press release and corrected the amount from 3 million to 5. And when is Jump Superstars supposed to come out in Japan? That game is bound to cause another spike in DS sales.

As for PSP games, I could've sworn I read that at least 2 PSP games have already been cancelled and moved to the PS2. Their names escape me.

Naw, you won't see any "Nin-gay-do is teh Kiddee!!11" type responses from me...I actually love most of their software.

But anyway, I agree that third parties tend to shift thier focus to the market leader...I mean, cuz its obvious. However, I can understand at this juncture, this early time in the platforms life, for third parties to basically not worry about current installed user base and to bet on the platform that they feel best fits their game.

That said, some choices just seem aggravatingly unfair...like Command and Conquer for the PSP. RTS would seem to be such a sweet match for the DS. Oh well...guess thats one less game I would be inclined to support EA for =p

Jump SuperStars is due in the late Summer/early Fall...IN JAPAN, of course.
A good number of folks feel that due to some of the obscure characters, the game will not make it to these shores. However, the way I look at it: you got DragonBallz, you got Naruto, you got One Piece, you got Shaman King. All of those are airing in the States, and Dragonballz alone should be enough to get that game localized.
Of course, lets first see how good the game truly is...its NOT in-house Nintendo developed, tho surely they have a deep level of input for it.

Does anyone know when Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals DS will come out in Japan?

It's still in developement right? I haven't seen anything on this game since last E3.

There has been no further information of the game following its announcement.

We can speculate tho right? =p

Its likely being developed by the same Nintendo-Q-funded/Square-offshoot team that made the GC game, and it would be fairly likely to have some snippet of it at E3. The name combined with its multiplayer nature would make a strong DS companion...especially in the shadow of the coming Online network launch.

nice graph!

www.GameScience.com has posted software sales for DS and PSP up to 4-11-05, basically DS software has sold 2,054,016 and PSP software has sold 1,168,173.  The sales don't count the recent release of Naruto 3 and Nintendogs, so it is needless to say that the DS software sales are even more marginally greater than PSP.  Although at this point the PSP most likely still have a higher tie ratio.

Hopefully publishers and developers notice this and start up more ds support or maybe even some jump shipping from psp to ds!

All those sales figures would lead you to believe DS is whipping PSP's ass but sadly it's not...

I got a PSP a couple of days ago and though I still favor the DS, I must say the PSP is not a bad system...overpriced, sure, but I got it for free, so whatever.

The best part is these numbers do not reflect the recent Nintendogs madness and Naruto constant reign at the top of the Daily charts in Japan.
