Words can’t even begin to describe how happy I was when Burnout 3 was announced. It is my favorite racing series of all-time. I absolutely loved the first 2 games and I knew they sold fairly well on the ‘Cube so I took it for granted that BO3 would find it’s way to the GameCube. After months of speculating, EA had finally announced that the decision was made to pull the plug on the GCN build due to Nintendo’s lack of on-line support. With that announcement, it seems that my world came crashing down (OK, not really – but you get my point).
Anyways – now that it has been released for the PS2 and X-Box, I have read a countless number of reviews, all in agreement, that the on-line portion of the game is more of a gimmick than a feature central to game play. I have also read that the off-line game is full-featured and would have been a great addition to the GameCube library, I wonder if EA and Criterion will make an “about face” like Midway recently did with the new Mortal Kombat game and release it on the ‘Cube (minus the on-line mode) sometime next year?
