To clear up some stuff with the mac...
« on: July 26, 2004, 11:45:14 AM »
Honestly, nothng can compete with the ipod. You can get an ipod with 40 gb storage, compared to dell and sony's 20 gb, now why would one try to make a portable game console to compete with it? Most people don't face it,  but apple is much more advanced than other companies. some of apples computers run at  12 ghz, have terabytes of storage and memory around 15 gb. Now what would happen if they made a game console...
that just plain JEWISH!!!

It would immediately grab 5% of the handheld market. High price and 2-year-old ports of other systems' games would plateau its sales. Apple would then take Nintendo's place as the red-headed stepchild of the industry, receiving all the negative press. Despite abysmal sales, they would still be significantly more profitable than Microsoft.

I'd really like to see some evidence of these being bought by (or even being available to) home users, because it sounds absolutely expensive and a waste of resources. It sounds like a try-hard supercomputer to me, only its measured by its clockspeed and storage.

You wanna know something cool? Advanced computers aren't measured by their clockspeed or storage.
Take for example IBM ASCI White - the world's fastest computer as of this moment. It is measured at 12.3 teraflops (trillion calculations per seconds), has 160 terabytes of storage, and has 6 terabytes of memory. The fact that it was bought by the government to run simulations of nuclear weapons probably doesn't matter to you, but there is more to life than game consoles and gigahertz.
And IBM have been doing that kind of long before Jobs and Wozniak even thought of starting their own business.

Random fact: Gamecube has an IBM chip inside it :-O
