Mario Pinball Released
« on: October 04, 2004, 11:52:31 AM »
Super Mario's pinball game ships.

NINTENDO NEWS: EXPERTS AGREE - MARIO IS A BALL! MARIO PINBALL LAND LAUNCHES TODAY

On Oct. 4, a very well-rounded Mario makes his debut as a human pinball in Mario Pinball Land™ for Game Boy® Advance SP.  More than a pinball game, Mario Pinball Land mixes all the action and adventure you've grown to expect from Mario with the fast-paced flipping excitement that pinball fans love.

Nintendo went straight to the experts at the Professional Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) to make it official: Mario Pinball Land packs all the excitement of a big bulky pinball machine right into your hands.  Jacob Prince, fifth-grader and reigning PAPA Junior World Champion called on his years of pinballing experience to give Nintendo his "expert review" of Mario's latest adventure.  Jacob praises the 3D graphics and challenging game play, and recognized Mario Pinball Land as the best alternative when a traditional pinball machine is out of his reach.

Just in time for the holidays, Mario Pinball Land is the perfect stocking stuffer; wherever the holidays take you, Mario Pinball Land will entertain Mario fans anytime, anywhere!

With an MSRP of $34.99, Mario Pinball Land is rated E for everyone.

$34.99? What in the....

What, is the developer taking an extra cut of the profits or something? Not since FFTA has a price gone over the 30 mark(Almost justified since its a huge game). Granted its got a clever twist on Pinball, but c'mon!

The MSRP is ALWAYS $34.99. Most stores just normally sell it for $29.99, or in Gamestop's case, drops the price a few weeks later.

Best Buy has it for $25.

But so far, I've seen one review of it, (IGN) and it got a suprisingly horrid score of 5 out of 10.

I still liked the store demo, being the loser I am, I'm still gonna buy it.

It was more fun than Sonic Spinball, thats for sure...

The store "demo" is the full game--there are no demo versions for GBA games, as far as I am aware.  5/10 is a bit harsh--the game is amazingly short and has its gameplay faults, but this game was hardly torture.  Check out my review

Looking at all the reviews (which seem to range mostly from insanely terrible to average) this game seems like a real waste of potential which is a shame.  Nintendo already has released Pokemon Pinball game for the GBA so was another pinball game released so soon really necessary?  And why waste these amazing graphics on a freaking pinball game?  There was no creative reason to make this game.  It's the exact type of game that I don't want to see Nintendo make.

Yeah but it's not like they made it without Nintendo giving it the okay.

Playing the demo, I was overcome with "meh". But then again, I'm not that big on pinball titles either.

But it's not like Nintendo's future depends on this game. More than likely, it was probably just a "filler" title, to tide us over until the holiday season hits.

Oh and YoungerPlumber, there was a limited Mario Pinball demo on the latest Gamecube kiosk disc. I think only a handful of levels were available. You musta played one on the regular GBA display.

I must admit I do not spend much time at store kiosks.  I usually go into Best Buy, discover they do not have what I want, and leave.  There are only a "handful" of levels in the entire game, BTW.
