N64 games have become as cheap as dirt!
« on: May 06, 2004, 07:23:54 AM »
I've been interested in adding some choice games to my N64 collection ever since the GameCube came out, but the prices on the games remained pretty high for the first couple of years.  But I was looking at Ebay today, and wowee-wow-wow-wow!  You can even get games that were once collector's items quite cheap now...Ogre Battle 64 seems to be going for about 30 dollars, and everything else, including games like Goldeneye, seems to be in the 5-10 dollar range.  It makes Super Nintendo games look expensive!  I think I'll be finishing off my N64 collection soon.

Ha ha, I sound like an ad for Nintendo!  Except they don't stand to make any profit on used games.
That's my opinion, not yours.

My local Toys R Us and Wal-Mart still sell Conker's Bad Fur Day for $80(!) Canadian.  That's pretty insane especially since it's $20 everywhere else.  I've generally noticed that with N64 games the used prices are incredibly cheap while new prices are higher than most Cube games.  Why Toys R Us thinks people are still wiling to pay full price for last gen games is beyond me.

The only missing part of my N64 collection is Banjo-Tooie.  The cheapest I've seen it is $30 used but it didn't come with the manual.  I have no idea why the previous owner lost the manual yet not the box but whatever.

perhaps the previous owner purchased the game used from a rental place?  many rental stores include the manual when you rent the game, but the box is kept in the back of the store.  if someone loses the manual, when it comes time to sell the game the store has the box but no manual.

i'm a genius.

I meant to buy Mario Tennis the other day; however, the price was way too high for me: $39.95.

I didn't know there there was a "Castlevania: Special Edition" for the N64.

Link and link

But it looks like my brother already has it, because it's also known as "Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness".

(And it's only $20 used at Amazon.com)

I'm about to go punk up some 3rd parties so they don't release games on other hardware, ciao!

I can't help but think there was a 3rd version of Castlevania for N64. Maybe it was cancelled or Japan only? he;lp

I got Paper Mario for $30 not long ago.  Now I just need to make time to play it.

Yeah, I kinda skipped over paper mario myself, been keeping my eye on it in the n64 bin's but I haven't seen a single copy of it myself.

Picked up Pefect Dark for $8.50 about a year back.

I would like to pick up a second-hand N64 (since I never owned one) and some games like Mario 64.

But sadly, I cannot make any time to play these games since I still have other games for other systems I have yet to play.

Castlevania: Here's another out-of-place character and another drop in frame rate 64?
Playing CV64: Legacy of Darkness was like trying to play Perfect Dark in 4-player split screen with added bots. IN A JAR OF HONEY OR SOMETHING.

Am I the only one who can't help but adore the Episode 1: Racer game for the 64?

Granted it's not a fantastic game by any means, but I would think I'd hear people mention it more. It's probobly within the top ten in my 64 collection, but then again I'm missing a few games (Banjo games, Ogre Battle, Smash Brothers, any and all Mario titles sans Mario 64).

It had a great sense of speed and some excellent tracks.  Not to mention a fairly hefty upgrade system that made for good competition against siblings. "My Pod Racer is faster than yours! ZOOM!"
Your heart felt good. It was dripping with pitch and made of wood.

That game was so underrated, I loved it on 64.  The sense of speed was well really one of the fastest games I have ever played, the controls were great, the graphics too, sound too, I'll probably pick up the one for PS2 it's only 12 bucks now at Gamestop retail and only because I liked 64 one so much.

That is probably because it is getting close to becoming 2 generations old.  It is outdated hardware.  I mean look at PSOne stuff.  It is cheap too.  Not that I would buy it now though.
