VG System with Hard Drive?

I don't know if this is old news, or if it even belongs in this forum, but I was checking out the United States Patent Office and I found this:
Security system for video game system with hard disk drive and internet access capability
This was filed by Nintendo back in May 2002, but it is dated March 30, 2004 (not quite sure why). There are some drawings and other documents along with it, but I can't view them for some reason.
I was just wondering what you guys thought about this.

Hmmm...It says an existing machine, so maybe, just maybe this could be one of those new GC accessories Ninty was talking about...But I hate speculating... ^_^

If "harddrive" possibly means "flash memory", this is the iQue. At least it's a DRM system and I think Nintendo could demand license fees from Infinium Labs...
