NARC
« on: March 04, 2004, 06:56:22 PM »

By taking one of the addictive drugs, the cop can get addicted and want the drug even more. In NARC this will take the form of a vibrating controller. As the desire for the drug gets bigger, the vibrations will get longer and longer until the player will literally have to fight to keep the shakes at bay. The more drugs that are taken, the stronger the withdrawal effects.

There is a badge meter in the top left of the screen that has a hundred point scale for the cop's respectability. By being a good cop and following all the rules, the badge meter will stay near the top of the scale. Beating up or killing innocent civilians, beating up criminals too much, or even doing drugs will make the badge meter drop and eventually get the cop kicked off the force.

Go to IGN's site and watch the videos. This game looks like a "must-buy" for the comedy alone. The "weed time" video is great, showing the cop bust out a doobie, smoke it, then go into slo-mo with a shot gun. "The Superbust" shows the officer grab a woman by the hair and slam her head into the ground twice in slow-mo while reading her her rights.

Sounds like controvery for controvery's sake. Be cautious with Midway, I don't trust them enough to preorder their games. Don't complain if you end up having John Romero in the staff credits!

Bingo.  It's BMX XXX with drugs.  Midway's the type of company that will rely entirely on the controversial content to sell the game and thus, unlike the GTA games, won't make any effort to actually make a decent game.  Other companies could take the idea and probably create a really cool game out of it but Midway won't.

Plus Midway has never to my knowledge created a decent console game that wasn't an arcade port.

Blah blah blah, we've all heard the selling on shock value a million times before, I think it's going to sell on comedy value. I am eagerly looking forward to playing good cop/bad cop and doing the SUPER BUST!

he's right, it was midway.

according to gamerankings.com, average user vote for doom 64 is 72%.  not great, but i think it qualifies at "decent".

and, for anyone who's interested, a complete list of all games made by midway.

Apparently Midway is too dense to realize that Rush is their best series...

Midway Guy 1:  Hey, we haven't done a Rush game in a while...
Midway Guy 2:  Rush?  What's that?
Midway Guy 1:  You know, that racing game with cars...and Mountain Dew cans...
Midway Guy 3:  I JUST THOUGHT OF A GREAT IDEA FOR THE NEXT MORTAL KOMBAT GAME!!!  MORE SKIN!
Midway Guy 2:  Hell yeah!
Midway Guy 1:  LIKE AWESOME!  Wait, what were we talking about again?

Agreed. San Francisco Rush was one of the greatest Nintendo 64 games ever. FUN JUMPS AND HILARIOUS FLIPS > racing around a circle 40 times while trying to rice up your sick ride in the middle of it all.

The world needs a new Mace, as well. CURSE YOU, NEW AGE MIDWAY. WITH YOUR HATRED OF MACE AND RUSH. AND YOUR HATS. ;__;

I used to play Rush and Rush 2 all the time.  I also used to associate Midway with good.  Now it really doesn't work that way...
