« on: November 30, 2003, 11:24:14 PM »
Sega have just announced a new Virtua Fighter game for GameCube and PS2 ,"Virtua Fighter Action RPG(Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation)".

Link (pics)

Is this the long rumoured Virtua Fighter Quest, or something else? My frothing demand for more info increases.

Official Site - Scheduled release date = Summer 2004

EDIT: It appears this is "Virtua Fighter Quest". More info here.

I'm not really excited by it, but hopefully it'll be optimized for the GCs power since it was being developed for GC first.

You just too quick to post my news find Mario .  I haven't read all about this yet, but what I did read sounded sweet.  Don't ask me to remember it, it is 4 am at this posting .  This with Tales of Symphonia and Baten Kaitos, and I know I missing something else for RPG's makes it look good for Cube in '04.
Pietriots, we roll out to get the lol out.

I want it, only because Sega makes some pretty damn good RPG's.  2004 is gonna be busy.  Tales of Symphonia, FF:CC, Resident Evil 4, now the new VF RPG, and Baten Kaitos which I hope comes out of Japan.

ps2 too now? This is like that dave chapelle talking about the sniper of washington on Conan O'Brien. First the guy is supposedly Arab...then he's Asian...then he's Latino....you knew each time his race changed he was getting blacker and blacker....This will be a ps2 exclusive game!

I don't really like the character designs in this game, visualy it looks boring. I don't mind visuals for a younger audiance, as long as it's good! I hope the gameplay is more innovative than the designs of the characters.  I read on Gamespot that the game is an action rpg like Square's Kingdom Hearts. I hope the gameplay is better than Kindom Hearts, because otherwise you will have to be a Virtua Fighter fan to fork over $50.

This game isn't a fighting game, it's an Action RPG...(It's not in the same line as the fighting games)

I think it looks great, and though I think the male character's design is pretty generic, I'm quite fond of the girl's...Gotta love the blue hair... ^_^

I hope it plays more like Shenmue than what I am hearing. They should at least allow you to collect the souls of fighters and then figfht like them

Like Shang-Tsung!

Mortal Kombat movie commercial bit that didn't make it into the final movie cut:

Liu Kang: "You can't run from me, Shang!"

Shang Masta: "I. Don't. NEED. To run!"

I dont mean to bitch or anything but that game looks nothing like Virtua Figther. I like the desing it looks cool, but yet should it be called virtua fighter even if it doesn't look like virtua fighter?

I hate quoting IGN, but I didn't feel like translating the official site...

Quote

It turns out that both J6 and Sei are searching for Virtua Souls, special bits of data that have been lost in the Nexus. The Virtua Souls contain fighting data from legendary fighters of past who took part in a tournament to name the world's best fighter. It is believed this data can be used by its holder to break through all security constraints in the Nexus system.
As the smart gamer may guess, the Virtua Souls are actually data associated with your favorite Virtua Fighters. Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation centers on your collection of these Virtua Souls and their use in battle.

Sei is the main character, by the way...

(Funny how they say "smart gamer," because geniuses IGN aren't... )
