SPLINTER CELL 2 ONLINE ON GAMECUBE

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow is online for all platforms

Including Gamecube

http://cube.ign.com/articles/446/446192p2.html

I must say, I didn't expect this in the least. Now I don't at all expect this to turn around online gaming for the platform but it certainly doesn't hurt.
What I am sure of, however is that Ubisoft (Namely Montreal) is on a friggin' roll.

SILICON KNIGHT, BIOWARE, EA CANADA and EA BLACK BOX.  i believe EA is planning on building their 2nd biggest studio in MONTREAL too. (VANCOUVER, BC is the biggest.)  if SONY, MICROSOFT and NINTENDO ever wants to look for talent, dont look to far.
even in the message board, ppl seem 2 be intimidated by me.  it feels like im da slim shady him self 'cuz they had 2 use a microscope everytime i post...  blah they got nothing on me other than attacking my paragraphs...

Ubi Soft have a hell of a lot love for GameCube, (Just look at the extra effort they put into the GC version of Rayman 3). I believe they shall deliver the 'goods'. Not that online play interests me in the slightest..

I doubted the online part at first since I figured that because IGN is covering all three versions of the game they just wrote one generic preview that was likely based on the Xbox version.  Their preview for Tony Hawk's Underground for example didn't make it clear which versions had online support.  However on page two it does say "Pandora Tomorrow is hitting every platform at the same time and they'll all have online capabilities including the GameCube" so that seems like a safer confirmation.  If you think about it it makes no sense for Ubi Soft not to include online support for the Cube since the setup is identical to the PS2.

Splinter Cell 2 is online for the GameCube. According to Cube-Europe, Ubi Soft confirmed it.  I guess this could hint that more online games are on the way.

That's true, Pandora Tommorrow is like a followup, while Splinter Cell 2 is the sequel. But Pandora Tomorrow is online for the GameCube.

"That's true, Pandora Tommorrow is like a followup, while Splinter Cell 2 is the sequel. But Pandora Tomorrow is online for the GameCube. "

What the hell are you guys talking about?  Pandora Tomorow is the second Splinter Cell game and thus using any sort of logic is Splinter Cell 2.  I've never even heard of some other Splinter Cell game.  Why can't people just number things accordingly instead of all this confusion with "real" sequels and side stories and all this other BS?  It's all Capcom's fault when they forgot how to count with the Street Fighter series.  Street Fighter Alpha should have been Street Fighter III and Resident Evil: Code Veronica should have been Resident Evil 4.  Don't get me started on people who are still waiting for Super Mario Bros 4.

If there is an announced Splinter Cell 2 and it's different than Pandora Tomorrow then curses to Ubi Soft for maintaining the gaming industry's inability to f*cking count.

I think becuase splinter cell: pandora tomorrow stresses more on mulitplayer aspect so it is a side story.

Also becuase this one is being made by the canadian team and not the french one. Or maybe I have the two reversed.

Ubi Soft Montreal made the first one, and they're making the second one as well.

Hopefully Pandora Tomorrow will be online for the Cube. It'll give me a new game to play for Cube.

Splinter cell pandora tomorrow puts just as much emphasis on single player mode as multiplayer mode.  Correct me if im wrong but I think it has a  meaty campaign mode as well as a well thought out multiplayer mode.

Here at the official splinter cell website it doesnt even mention the multiplayer mode.

"Covert stealth-action featuring a compelling original storyline and characters inspired by the world of Tom Clancy and endorsed by the famous author.

Revolutionary lighting, shadowing, animation, physics, and sound effects create an astonishingly realistic tension-filled experience.

Comprehensive stealth techniques including sniping, split jumping, zip lining, rappelling, and using human shields bring gameplay possibilities to a new level.

Experimental intelligence gadgets (night/thermal vision goggles, prototype weapons and surveillance gear, etc.) give Fisher the edge against his enemies."

Okay I just verified, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, is being made by the people who handled the ps2 port. I read this on a xbox board so I imagine this was also the same ones who made the gc version as well.

I was pretty sure I had remembered the original was made in france, also further cememting this the creators of it talking in the behind the scenes crap on the disc have french accents.

So basically yes, is a different team making the game.

It is splinter cell 1.5, not 2. Don't know why one guy suddenly said it was a minute ago. sarcasm or what I don't know.

They're from Montreal where French is the primary language.  Thus the accents.

To the best of my knowledge, the single player campaign of Pandora Tomorrow is developed by Ubisoft's Shanghai studio in China, the same house that did the PS2 and GCN ports. The multiplayer is being done by Ubisoft Montreal, who are also developing a separate Splinter Cell game, presumably due for release after Pandora Tomorrow.

Crap. And yeah, the GCN version will probably be ruined just the same.

If it got a good port which people have said it probably beats just the ps2 version. If it hadn't it would have been just on par with it.

What extra levels did the gc version get?

Also, my most solid feeling for saying it was made by a french team, which I had always thought it was, was becuase I new a different team was doing this one. Only becuase that was one of the first things I heard when this game was annouced. But maybes it that different aspects of the game being produced by a different team that was confusing. I'll ask around, I wasn't positive on the matter.

"What extra levels did the gc version get?"

I don't think the GC version got any extra levels.  Instead it had a new weapon added called the sticky bomb (I think) that required the GBA to be linked up.  The GBA link also allowed the GBA to function as a radar/map.  The GC port however was overall considered a good game and made use of the Cube hardware.  It was far from a quick-and-dirty port like most GC ports so I have faith that the Cube will get a good release of the sequel.

The GCN port verily sucked. It had a bad frame rate, when it was identical to the PS2 port in terms of polys [of course that had an even less-consistent frame rate]. They stripped out parts of levels. It didn't look as good.

Oh really I thought it got a few extras when it was realeased last, I know the ps2 had an extra on the disc and xbox will have a total of 3 now, if not already then in a month or so, through xbox live.

How does the sticky bomb work though?

I wish there were a cheat code or something to get all the gadgets or something when you beat the game, it really is fun going back and playing the same good with so many different scenerios.
