Just Got my PlayAsia Order!
« on: December 17, 2003, 01:28:23 PM »
I got a 64 USB memory card.  So now I have a bigger memory card plus its all backed up on my PC.  You can download other peoples saves too.  So on my smaller mem card I've put fully unlocked saves of Super Monkey Ball 2, Mario Kart DD and Super Smash Bros Melee.  I'm not taking the fun out of it.  It's just for when people are over, since I haven't had time to unlock those games completely now I can enjoy the full game in multi player and finish it at my leasure.

I also got a Hoti Digital Controller.  Soul Calibur 2 will get quite a bit of playtime now.   I've finished Weapons Master Mode with the wavebird using the same character the whole way through.  Now I'll start to master all of them and unlock the rest.

I also got a S-Video cable that Aperenty won't work on a PAL gamecube.  Haven't tried it yet.  But it was only $8 so... meh.  If anyone has any questions about there products, I'll do my best answer them.

Got the goods to Australia in 8 days with the cheapest postage option.  Not working days.  Eight days.  Not bad I thought.

I really want the Hori digital controller for VJ. I'm getting NES-thumb from that little D-pad. Tell us how it feels and plays.

Ok.  Just been play some SC2 with the Hori.  It D-Pad is perfect IMO.  Nice and tight, but feels like it will break in a bit with time. Really nice.  Only complaint I have about mine, and this is minor, and I'm sure only with mine.  The left trigger feels a little different to the right.  The right is a little clicky (which is really good) while the left is not as clicky.  If they were both the same you wouldn't even be thinking about it.  But is does feel noticable when you first use it.  After a while of playing I forogt about it as there realy is only a slight difference.

This pad is awesome for fighting games.  I might have to pick myself a copy of MKDA now.  I hired it and it was very crap controls with the wavebird d-pad.

I don't have joe yet, but I've played it and I would be great with this.  Viewtiful Joe is next on my list of games to get.  I'll try just about to through in some rocky boxing which might be good with this pad as well.  Loving it so fast.  They're quite cheap really.  Even with shipping.

I still don't understand why people prefer d-pads over a-sticks. I mean, the a-stick is much better for inputting arcs and the d-pad (of the MS Sidewinder Gamepad) gives me a thumbache for a week after a few hours. Also, the d-pad doesn't feel more accurate, for accuracy I prefer the keyboard.

I've had the Hori Digital Controller (the one that looks like the SNES controller) for several months now, I use it mainly when using the GBA Player and when playing the Resident Evil games.  I use a wavebird for VJ and Soul Calibur 2, and use the control stick.  Both play perfectly with it.

Soul Calibur II plays brilliantly with the analogue stick. The Hori pad is great for things like Viewtiful Joe and Capcom vs SNK 2 though.

I find GI's alot easier with the d-pad.  And the digital shoulder buttons are great for SC too.
