They give you store credit for the game.  Usually not much.  But it helps.  I prefer to keep my games, but I used to trade a lot.  Sometimes stores will run other deals as well.

Sometimes it's more than you'd expect, especially for like a crappy character-licensed game.

Also, once there was a stack of like 20 copies of Megaman X7 marked down to two bucks at Target, if I had thought to pick them up and take them to gamestop, I coulda make like over a hundred bucks. : (

You throw your unwanted games at their groins, and they'll give you store credit. You then put that towards whatever you wanna get. If your games are in poo condition, they'll go "AW NO".

NEVER, EVER trade in games at EB- I traded about 5 or 6 games there once and got a total of $20 in store credit- all I could buy was a used copy of Beetle Adventure Racing for the N64. I even traded in a practically new copy of Black and White a week after release and only got 10 bucks. You'd be better off have a garage sale or something.

See if they'll tell you trade in values over the phone. Ours doesn't anymore, but I don't know if that's a chain-wide thing or not.

Yeah, most trade in values there are pretty damn weak. Most.

ebay, use ebay, prices are stupid on there, chronotrigger + super key (converter cartrige) went for a whopping $172 AU,  Mario Party 3 and Paper Mario go for $90 au +, around the time of a new release of an existing franchise prices of the older versions go way up, i.e. when Metroid Prime came out, some copies of Super Metroid were going for anywhere between $40-60 AU, but now it only goes for around $30.

actually, keep your games, selling games is bad.

I was in EB yesterday killing time, and this kid brought in like 12 PS2 games.  They totalled up to about $50.  But EB was running a special, trade on 3 somehow qualifying games and get 1 new one free.  So the kid walks in with $50 of old games, and walks out with brand new copies of Viewtiful Joe, Rebel Strike, Tony Hawk Underground (PS2), and pre-order for Socom 2.  I realize that this is a very rare opportunity, but people may want to take advantage.

I bought stuntman(for GBA) at best buy for twelve bucks. I then went to eb, traded it in and got 14 bucks for it.  Sometimes its worth it.  All you have to do is ask to see how mcuh trade in credit you'll get.  Your not obligated to trade it in when they check it.
