Topic: A/V to S-video adapter

Does anyone know if they make an A/V to S-video adapter, and if so where can I get one. I currently have my Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2, and satellite reciever plugged into an A/V switchbox. However, I plan on getting some S-video cables for my consoles (and in addition I can hook up my computer to my TV via an S-video cable). The problem is my satellite reciever only outputs in A/V, not S-video, and my TV won't accept both A/V and S-video- if both are plugged into it, it will only display what's plugged in by the S-video cable. So through this long winded explanation, I'd like to know if an adapter exists that will allow me plug my satellite reciever into an S-video port. Is there?

Thanks, Michael, but that Monster cable says composite to to S-video. And it's way out of my price range. That Belkin looks good, but I'm not sure how it would work from those pictures. They had a link to a Monster A/V to S-video converter on Amazon, though, which is significantly cheaper than the other one. Anyway, thanks a lot for the help. I was searching for hours yesterday, to no avail. Now I won't end up having to buy a new reciever (although I could for the same price as that first Monster cable ).

I guess it's not that pertinent, but for a second I thought my graphics card in my computer supplied the very converter I'm talking about, but it ended up being a special adapter from the graphics card to A/V- it won't fit in a standard S-video jack.

No, the Monster Cable should work.  According to Monster's site, it is bi-directional.

Well that's good, although it's still too pricy for me. Then again I'm starting to see your point that one may question the Belkin adapter considering it's drastically lower price.  

::EDIT:: I think what it meant by bi-directional is that it can convert composite to S-video and S-video to composite- at least that's what the description says. I'm looking for something that will convert A/V into S-video.

the V in A/V is composite. you would just plug the yellow connector into that adapter.  or you could go to you local uber computer store, ask them if the have a converter from S-video to composite for a video card.  just a cable about 3 inches long.  one end male S-Video, othe end female RCA jack.  just plug the yellow of your A/V into it, and then plug in the S-Video end.  walaa!!

Ah, thanks enigma- once again my ignorance does me no good.

Like I said, though, I do have a video card converter for S-video to composite, but the S-video part of it isn't normal S-video. It has 7 pins instead of 4, and a wider plastic peg, so it won't fit in a normal S-video slot. I've contemplated ripping out the 3 extra pins and clipping the plastic peg, but it's proving more difficult than I thought.
