What age to enjoy Mario Golf?
« on: August 06, 2003, 06:54:07 AM »
I am 31 and have never played Mario Golf.  It looks really cool, but I don't want to get it unless my kids will enjoy it too.  They are 7 and 4.  They have seen commercials and really want it, but I don't know if they would enjoy it or not.  Is the gameplay too slow or complicated for a kid?  They love SSB,Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Party--so I know it was the cast of characters that turned them on.  I just don't want to blow $50 and end up playing it by myself.

I know I should just rent it, but we live in the boondocks and our local video store has very few GC games to rent.

Any input is appreciated.

well its a good multiplayer game, they'll see mario and be like cool. If the game is at least somewhat fun people will like it. The Mario Party series isnt known for critical acclaim but its constantly a top seller because of its party powers.

That's a toss up.  The game includes an easy swing feature for kids/newbies, and the game selects the right club for you depending on your distance from the hole.

The gameplay is slow compared to SSBM, but if your kids could deal with the slow parts of MParty (the board you move on) then there's a good chance they will like MarioGolf.

I have a brother whos seven and LOVES Mario Golf.  It's not too hard, or too slow for him, and the easy swing system is great for beginners.  4 seems a little too young though...

Yeah I have an eight year old brother who loves mario to death.  Mario Golf is no exception.  He loves this one too.  He's not that greatest but he still likes it.

Well, I can answer my own question now.  I was given an Best Buy gift certificate yesterday, so I went out and got Mario Golf this morning.  My 7 and 4 year olds both love it.  My wife (who generally doesn't like games) really likes it too.
